missing gems

I had been saving up gems and a few days ago I was up to 14. Then one day I opened up the game and I only had 8. Later that day I received another gem for completing the second level of a certain food and was up to 9. Then this morning I somehow was back down to 7 gems. I definitely did not purchase anything to do with gems so I have no idea why only some of my gems would be gone.

Is there any way for team lava to give me my gems back?
