If you are asking how to use....let's say a gear, you would need to buy an oven or drink machine that requires a gear to be built. You can not use these gifts unless you are building/constructing an oven, drink machine, or constructible item ie mini dragon baker. The item must be purchased first and then the box will sit in your bakery until you have all the parts you need.
