Getting Started

There are several important aspects to running a successful restaurant: Cooking Food, Serving Food, Keeping Customers Happy, and Customizing your restaurant.

Cooking Food
Cooking Food is super easy and super fun!
Step 1: find an empty oven and tap on it twice to open the cookbook.
Step 2: find the dish you would like to cook and tap on it to select it.
Step 3: prepare your dish by tapping on it to prepare or add the dish's various ingredients - once you have finished this step you will need to wait for your dish to finish cooking to continue.
Step 4: once your dish finishes cooking, tap on it again to add the final touches.
Step 5: tap on your dish a final time to move it to an available serving counter where it can be served to your guests.

Serving Food
Once your food is on a serving counter (as explained in the final step of Cooking Food), it will be served to customers automatically as they find empty seats in your bakery. If you don't have any available serving tables then you need to either a) buy more from the store, b) remove food from existing serving tables by tapping on it and choosing remove, or c) wait for your customers to eat all of the food off of one serving table.
Please note that identical food types will INITIALLY take up two serving counters, but if your serving counters are becoming full then your chef will combine your identical dishes to make room for new food.

Keeping Customers Happy
You can keep your customers happy by having empty seats for them to sit in and prepared food for them to eat. If there is no room for a customer to sit, then they will eventually become frustrated and leave the restaurant. If there is no food for them to eat, then they will eventually become frustrated and leave the restaurant. Make sure to have plenty of food and plenty of seats and tables waiting for potential customers - remember that happy customers will attract even more customers and that's just what you want!

Customizing Your Restaurant
You can customize your restaurant in any way that you like - it can be strictly functional with only tables, chairs, ovens, and serving counters, it can be purely decorative with no functional items, or it can be anywhere in between. To find items to place in your restaurant, open the store by tapping on the hammer in the lower right corner of the main screen.
Once the store is open you can browse the various categories and choose items in each to purchase and place in your store. To purchase an item you can either tap on it and tap again at the location you'd like to place it or drag it to where you want to place it and tap again to confirm.

The Collectibles feature has been a favorite since it was instituted, but we get a lot of questions about it as well. With that in mind, we?ve composed a guide that will help you all understand how this new feature works.
Currently, the Collectible feature is only available on iOS devices, but this guide can still be helpful for Android players to prepare you for this feature. Check below the jump for more details!

What is a Collectible?
Collectibles are items that you collect for performing various actions in the game. There is a random chance for a collectible to drop while performing certain actions.

Where can I view my Collectibles?
When you receive a Collectible, it is stored until you have all of the required Collectibles to redeem the reward. You can view your current Collectibles and other information by viewing your collection from the Main Menu > Collectibles tab.

What is a Collection?
There are a number of Collections available for each game. Each Collection will require you to collect 4 specific Collectibles in order to redeem the reward. Each Collectible has a different drop rate, which means some Collectibles are harder to obtain than others.

How do Mastery Levels work?
Each time you redeem a reward, you are mastering the Collection. If you keep redeeming the rewards, you will eventually gain a Mastery Level and receive different bonuses! Each Collection has 4 Mastery Levels.

What Collections are in Restaurant Story?
There are 6 different Collections for Restaurant Story and each one has a different reward. We?re going to give you some tips on how to find the different Collectibles for each Collection!


Collection: Floral Bouqet
Collectibles: Rose, Orchid, Lily, Tulip
Reward: Flower Trophy
Tip: Randomly drops when purchasing Wall Decorations or Wallpaper.


Collection: Cooking Tools
Collectibles: Ladle, Spatula, Rolling Pin, Measuring Cup
Reward: Golden Utensils
Tip: Randomly drops when purchasing any of the following items: Tables, Chairs, Decorations, Appliances, and Counters.


Collection: Chef Implements
Collectibles: Chef Hat, Apron, Oven Mitt, Chef Jacket
Reward: 15,000 Coins & 750 XP
Tip: Randomly drops while cooking ANY recipe in Restaurant Story.


Collection: Baking Goodness
Collectibles: Whisk, Tong, Baking Sheet, Knife
Reward: 10,000 Coins & 1,000 XP
Tip: Randomly drops while cooking ANY Breakfast or Dessert recipe.


Collection: Yummy Ingredients
Collectibles: Flour, Egg, Sugar, Butter
Reward: Diner Table

Create A Storm8 ID

Before you can add neighbours (explained in the Neighbours section) you must first create a Storm8 ID. To create a Storm8 ID open the Social page from the Main Menu and tap the Invite Friends tab. If you already have a Storm8 ID it will be displayed at the top of the page. If you do not have a Storm8 ID, you will have to sign up for one. Remember that when choosing a Storm8 ID this is what you will give to other players if you want them to invite you as a neighbour, so be sure that you choose wisely.

Note: Your Storm8 ID and password are important for recovering your Storm8 games in case you lose your device or games.

Neighbours

You can become neighbours with your friends from other Storm8 Studios and Storm8 games or become neighbours with Community members you've met in Restaurant Story. A neighbour is similar to a Community member but you can leave them tips 6 times each day instead of 3 and send them gifts.

To become neighbours you need to follow these easy steps:
1. Open the Social page from the Main Menu, tap the Invite Friends tab and signup for a Storm8 ID if you haven't already.
2. Tap the empty box next to the "Friend's Storm8 ID" text, enter your friend's Storm8 ID, and tap Invite.
You have now invited someone to be your neighbour. They won't show up as your neighbour until they Accept the Invite.

Likewise, other players can invite you to be their neighbour using your Storm8 ID (creating a Storm8 ID is explained in the Create A Storm8 ID section). To see if someone has invited you to become their neighbour, open the Social page and tap the Invite Friends tab. Neighbour Requests that you have received will be displayed and you can either Accept or Decline them.

Gifts & Requests

Giving Gifts
To give a Gift to another player, you must first add them as a neighbour You can then send a Gift either directly through the Neighbours page by tapping the Gift button next to their name or by visiting a Neighbor's restaurant and then tapping the Gift icon on the right side of the screen.

You can gift as many neighbours as you like but you can only send 1 gift to a neighbour a day. Once your neighbour has received 20 gifts, you will not be able to gift them until the next game day. Game resets at midnight California time. You can use this Time Zone Converter (https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter-classic.html) to figure out your local time. You can enter "San Francisco" for the S8 time zone.

Receiving Gifts
When a neighbour sends you a gift, a gift box icon will appear above the main menu icon on your main screen - the number next to this gift box is how many gifts you have waiting for you. Tap on the gift box to open it and accept or decline the gifts you've been sent. Accepted gifts will go to your Inventory and you'll be given an option to send a gift back to the Neighbour who sent you the original gift.

You can receive 20 gifts a day and you wont be able to receive more until the next game day. If you decline a gift, you can receive another when your neighbours send you.

Requests
You can send parts requests to ask your neighbours to help to build your appliances or task requests for their help during goals. You can send as many requests as you like per game day but your neighbours can only accept 20 of your requests. If you send more than 20 requests today, the remainder of your requests will carry to the next game day. Although there's no limit to how many requests you can send each day, take note not to jam up your request queue and cause a delay in the response time, especially during time sensitive goal period.

Frequently asked questions

Why Is My Food Spoiled?
Food that finishes cooking but isn't moved to the serving table in time will eventually spoil. The amount of time it takes for a dish to spoil is approximately the amount of time it takes for that dish to cook, so if a dish takes 1 day to cook, once it finishes cooking you have approximately 1 more day to serve it before it spoils.

Why Don't Cupcakes or Some Dishes Appear On My Stove?
Stoves, Ovens, and Grills each cook different types of dishes (for example, ovens can only cook baked dishes). If you want to find different dishes, try to think about which of these appliances it would be cooked on and you should find it there.

Why Are Customers Leaving Angry?
Customers will leave angry for one of 4 reasons.
1. There is no prepared food for the customers to eat.
2. There is not enough sitting room in your restaurant (sitting room means an empty chair facing an empty table).
3. The path to the empty chair is blocked by furniture or decorations.
4. The path to the Host Table is blocked by furniture or decorations.

What is the Magic Box?
Opening the Magic Box gives you a chance to obtain items you can't find anywhere else! Tap "Design" in the home screen, then select the 9th tab (Expand).

How Do I Expand My Restaurant?
Tap "Design" in the home screen, then select the 9th tab (Expand).

How Do I Move Items In My Restaurant?
Items can be moved by opening the Design menu. Once you open the Design menu, tap on the item in your restaurant that you would like to move to select it, then drag that item to the new location you would like to place it. Once you place the item in the new location, you will need to tap it again to confirm its new placement. If you try to place an item in a location that is already occupied by another item, then the action will fail and it will return to its original location.

How Do I Find Items In Storage?
When you store an item (or receive a special item through the Magic Box) it is placed in the appropriate category inside of the Design menu. For example, if you store a table, it will be placed in the Tables category. To place it in your restaurant again simply open that category and tap or drag the item into your restaurant.
All stored items have a marker in the lower right corner along with a number signifying how many of that item you have stored.

How Do I Sell Items In My Restaurant?
If you would like to sell an item in your restaurant, open the Design menu and then tap on the item you want to sell. On the right side of the screen you will see three icons: the price tag icon (marked as Sell) allows you to sell items from your restaurant for a small percentage of the initial cost of that item. Tap on this icon and you will be asked to confirm your decision - doing so will sell the item. Please remember that all decisions to sell items are final and that sold items cannot be recovered.

Gems

How can I get more gems?
You can get gems through the following:
by purchase
game download goals
collecting from gem dispenser
watch a video
mastering recipes (upon completion of levels 2 and 4 of each recipe)

Buy gems
You can get more Gems by tapping the [Add] button next to the [Gems] icon at the top of the screen. Once you tap this [Add] button, you will be able to select from various Gem offers available for purchase.

Other games goals
You sometimes get goals to download and play other Storm8 games in your goal list. Download and play these games to be rewarded with gems.

When you get this game goal prompt in Restaurant Story, do not install the new game immediately. You should check your other Storm8 games and see they get this prompt. This way, you will get the gem/gold rewards in your other games as well.

I Do Not Want To Pay Money Ever. How Do I Prevent Myself From Making Unintentional Purchases?
There is a way to restrict In-App Purchases on your device. On your device, please go to Settings Menu -> General -> Restrictions option. You can then simply turn off In-App Purchases under "Allowed Content".

Game Version

You should always use the latest game version as there may be fixes and new updates. Using an outdated version may cause unforeseen issues to your game.

To check for game version in game:

Open game, go to Settings Menu and the version is listed at the bottom right of the screen

To check for game version if you can't open the game:

Open App Store, search game name (or Storm8), click on Restaurant Story app, on the left side, under the logo it will show current game version

New Device - transfer your games

When you get a new device, you have a choice of setting a restaurant on your new device or transfer your current restaurant to it.

To set a new restaurant:

1. Download Restaurant Story unto your new device.
2. Start playing on your new restaurant. Don't forget to set your new Storm8 ID and password.

To transfer your current restaurant to your new device:

1. Transfer your games (see below instructions).
2. Log into your Game Centre if using iOS device
3. Start Restaurant Story

Transfer your games
You can use the Login feature to transfer your Storm8 ID and all Storm8 games over to your new device. Since Restaurant Story does not have the login feature, you will need to use any game listed on Post 1 of the Login Feature thread instead.

Maintain your device
Remember to do the general housekeeping periodically to maintain your device for the best in-game experience. Your game will slow down when your device is not performing well.

What can I do to try to resolve my game issues?

iOS General Issues
If your iOS device is having issues, make sure you've tried the following:
Restart your device
Delete and reinstall the game
Hard restart - hold the power and home buttons, through the power off slider, until the Apple symbol appears.

For newer devices (iPod Touch 4th Gen and newer, iPhone 3G and newer, all iPad versions [possibly other devices]) - close out background running apps. Double tap the home button, when the screen raises up, hold the app until it starts shaking. Press the red minus symbol to close.

Connection Issues
Force shut game
Disconnect device cellular/wifi setting
Switch off device
Power off modem and router, and power up after 2 mins if you're using wifi connection
Switch on device and reconnect cellular/wifi setting
Start game

If you are using wifi, the bandwidth and number of devices connected to it are contributing factors to your connectivity performance.

Device Performance Issues
Some older devices may have trouble keeping up with the game.
Clear cache - go to Safari in Settings app on iOS device and click [Clear History and Website Data].
Check that you have sufficient space on your device. Try deleting some unused apps/photos/videos etc if you don't.
Store away some (if not all) animated decorations in your restaurant
Avoid running other apps in the background
Let your game settle for a few minutes (3 mins or so) after starting it, before you do any activity
Delete and reinstall game if the above doesn't work

Display/Graphics Issues
Clear cache - go to Safari in Settings app on iOS device and click [Clear History and Website Data].
Restart device and game
Delete and reinstall game if the above doesn't work

Sync Issues
Ensure your connection is good. Always fresh start your game before you do any actions to avoid sync issues. It is recommended that we do not leave our games running in the background.
If you discover that you have forgotten to close out your game, force shut it without doing any activity and start it again.
You can force save your game progress by visiting another restaurant.
Do not leave your game immediately after your last action. Try to force save your game progress and sync with Storm8 servers before closing your game.

Gem Dispenser (removed)

The Gem Dispenser gives you 1 gem every 12 hours. Tap on it to collect your gem and the timer starts to count down and you can collect again in the next 12 hours. The gem stays at your Gem Dispenser and does not expire if you do not collect from it. However it does not accumulate any additional gems until it is collected. You should collect from it as close to every 12 hours as possible to get the most gems out of it.

You can collect gems permanently from it as long as you are using the supported software (iOS 1.7.6+). It is not support on Android. Please note that you will not see your Gem Dispenser on your Android device if you are playing on multiple platforms. You will be able to see it when you return to playing on your iOS device.

Troubleshooting for Frequent Issues

How do I unlock old goals and the locked items?
You can't unlock goals which have expired and the items from those goals remain locked. However you can redo those goals if/when Storm8 relists them again.


We don't plan on releasing these special appliances to all players at this time - it wouldn't be fair to the player who completed it while the goals were available. Sorry about that!

Why did my food suddenly disappear?
You may encounter a quick-sell of food if you block the door to your restaurant. Refrain from blocking your door to avoid this.


The game will usually quick-sell all of your inventory if you block the door to your store. When you block the door, you may not see the customers coming in, but our system will still recognize them walking in and buying your items. When you open your door again, the consumption that took place while your door was blocked catches up, which is why it looks like you instantly lost all of your items.

If you want to avoid the quick-sell, don't block your door.

Why did my "Free Gems" icon disappear?
This promotional feature comes and goes to random players. You may get it again if yours disappeared. Likewise you stand a chance to get it if you don't have it.

Why did my restaurant restart at Level 1?
You can recover your restaurant by logging back into your Game Center, if you are using an iOS device.

To log back into Game Center, please follow these instructions on your device:
1. Device Settings (little silver cog icon on your device)
2. scroll all the way down to Game Center
3. tap Game Center and login where it says Apple ID.
4. Restart Restaurant Story.

Why is my Gem Dispenser missing?
Please note that you will not see your Gem Dispenser on your Android device if you are playing on multiple platforms. You will be able to see it when you return to playing on your iOS device.

You can block players from posting on your wall with this Block feature.

Block Player
Click [X] next to his post
Click icon
The post will disappear from your wall and this player will appear in your Blocked List.

Click [Blocked List] to display the list of players you have blocked
Click [Unblock] next to the player's game name to unlock him

Speed Cooking Boost

You can speed up your cooking for 2 hours by using this boost. Watching video for speed cooking boost is a promotional feature which comes and goes to random players.

Click on your appliance while it's cooking
Select speed cooking option
Note: This boost may not be available on some recipes or appliances.

Coins Boost

You can earn x2 coins from your customers using this boost for 2 hours while your boost is active. You can purchase this boost with gems (or watch a video if you have the option). Watching video for coin boost is a promotional feature which comes and goes to random players.

Matching Tables & Chairs


Notes:
- I copied the names exactly as they appear in my game because there are lots of names that are similar but not exactly the same. For instance, the Leaf Table and the Leafy Table are close enough in name that it could get confusing if I did anything other than straight copy their names.
- For those few tables or chairs that do have an exactly duplicated name, I've added an A or B at the end of the names along with a one word description in parentheses to help differentiate them.
- The oldest items that were in the original release (or released soon after) were a bit harder to be 100% sure on. In the end, I just paired those tables with chairs that physically matched it best.
- Of those early items, there are a few tables that don't have definite matches (like the Checkered tables) but there are several chairs that could match them. Instead of listing every chair that might match, I just left them out and will add a separate section at the end for single items.
- There are also a few tables that were released with two matching chairs, those will also be added at the end because they made the chart look odd.
- Finally, there is one chair that has to be listed twice. This is because the Coral Reef Chair was originally a locked item obtained through a timed goal with a matching chair. It was later relisted in different goal as a locked item but this time with another table.
