Gather Around the Bonfire

Caretakers Gather! The fire is lit! The Night grows cold and dark. The Moon is waxing now but soon it will begin to wane as we approach the Dark Nite.
All Hallows' Eve approaches in the The Dragon Ilses.
We must prepare!
It is time to tell the tales of Horror, of Fear and Foreboding, of Terror, Doubt and Despair!
Dig out your Phobias and Nightmares....and share!
Tell us the tales you know of the Ghoulish Dragons that will haunt the Nite when the fabric between this life and the next is thin. Tell us of the Undead creatures that will threaten our Peaceful Isles and how to Defend ourselves and our Beloved Dragons!
Help us! No tiny bit of Lore is unimportant! Myth or Legend or Folktale, entire or fragments, add to the Knowledge that will save us in this Dark Time that approaches!
And it is only be Standing Strong Together that we shall Prevail!

In the Human World, there are Places of Myth and Mystery, where the the boundaries between Life and Death are always thin, but which are mere gossamer webs as the Dark Nite of All Hallows' Eve approaches. It is the same here in our peaceful Land of Dragons, but little is known about them here. But we have heard of a place where Dangers may Lurk, a Monument which we have never truly understood, shrouded in Mystery...the Nether Portal....

.....and this is the Tale I have heard....

....Before the Second Sun of New Dawns Rising.
....Before the Era of Peace Ruled by the First Diamond.
...in a time Darkness and Despair a Legion of Dark Dragons Ruled.
Not the gentle Darks we know and Love today, no, these were Dark Souled Dragons, terrible beyond imagination! They came from a world Utter Blackness, of poison waters, of foul stench and decay. They found a way into the newly formed Dragon Isles where Beauty reigned and purity flourished. Where Joyful, Gentle Elemental Dragons lived and frolicked with their Caretakers, unaware of the Horror they would soon face.......
....for during that Blissful Summer, bright and warm, something new had been Unearthed. No dark intent brought this Thing into the light of day, no Malice or Magic. Curious Caretakers, as Humans will, simply must explore and in their poking about came upon a Relic, and must needs dig it out.
It was Beautiful in a disturbing way. An archway, deathly Black crowned by a fierce Dragon in Livid shades of Aubergine.
The Heart of the Archway begins to swirl in a sickly, dizzying Vortex as soon as the suns rays strike it! But that is all....nothing else happens. The Caretakers are fascinated but when they can discover no purpose for the Artifact, they soon lose interest and wander away....but not before they give it an eerily portentous name... Nether Portal.
Hours later, as darkness fell on a moonless summers eve, thick Black clouds filled the sky and a chill blankets the land as the last starlight is Hidden from sight. The Inky Vortex, unobserved by human or dragon eyes, begins to swirl faster and pulse with sickly reds and green...
...then they appear...creatures...Dragons...but like no Dragons ever seen in this Land. These are foul, decaying stinking beasts! Some with too many body parts, some with not enough, all with rotting flesh or no flesh at all! They swarm out through the Portal in their thousands and spread out finding crevices and cracks, deep and damp places to hide. For hours they pour forth and as the warmth of dawn finally burns away the clouds, all signs are gone of the unearthly invasion, but nothing will truly ever be safe and peaceful in the Dragon Isles again.....
