Level 397: 48 glass in 55 moves (5JC.) This board has lots of corners and hard to reach areas (due to windows and cutouts.) Starts with 2 12-count doom jewels in the middle of the board. Then you get 10-count doomies dropping in throughout the game from time-to-time.

Been working on this almost 2 days now. It's really hard to make specials and combinations. If you see matches in the corner areas, make them right away; there are lots of hard-to-reach areas, and you might not get another chance at those matches! Also, don't wait long on the doom jewels. If they fall into one of the corners, they could end up detonating (I've lost some rounds that way...smh :o)

Finally passed 397--yay! I started only playing levels with at least one (hopefully more) match in the corners, cuz that's always where the glass is left when the moves run out. (I'd restart the level if I didn't have that.) My winning round, I had lots of good moves to start, then I was able to make a blaster + bomb, lots of blasters & bombs by themselves, and luckily...diamonds! They saved me at the end, getting the last glasses and a doom jewel that was about to blow with no match in sight. This one took days, but was still a fun level! :D

Level 398: Dig 9 meters in 55 moves (5JC.) Super dirt digging level with crates and restricted jewels. There are also lots of little windows and cutouts, which add to the difficulty.

I passed this after a few tries, and thought it was a fun level! I used lots of blasters and special jewel combos (blaster + bomb & diamond + blaster in various attempts.) At the bottom, you do not have to clear everything--just the dirt/super dirt. I got the "goal achieved" notice even though I still had crates and restricted jewels above the goal line (these also won't get in the way of scrolling earlier in the round.) I took this screenshot just after passing the goal--the last s.d. square had dropped just below the 9-meter line...

Level 399: 18 fire in :50 (5JC.) This fire level has a very short timer. 8 snake heads on 2 bodies, running vertically on each side of the board. There's fire just outside the snakes (it's contained by them until the snakes are ****ed.) There's fire at the bottom of the board; it starts to spread immediately. Some of those tiny little windows (and cutouts) have been added, blocking fire and snakes, making it difficult to access them directly.

This thing is crazy fast! Had several disappointing rounds, but then I got very lucky with lots of "bonus" snake matches. I was busy trying to keep the fire pushed back, fingers flying. Before I knew it, one of the snake bodies fell. I combo'd a diamond + blaster, and the other snake fell. After all that, it wasn't too hard getting the rest of the fire out. Woo-hoo! (Thought I'd be stuck on this one a looooooong time! ;))

Wow, level 400!
Level 400: Dig 14 meters in 3:10 (4JC.) This digging level has restricted jewels, unbreakable/stone jewels, ice/white blocks, lots of little windows, and super dirt.

With only 4 jewel colors in play, this is a special jewel extravaganza. It definitely had my heart racing, trying to get through all the crazy obstacles (some narrow areas and other difficult stuff.) Gotta control the special jewels and combos to get through as fast as you can. Hopefully you'll get good/easy opportunities to change the stone jewels into specials, instead of them building up/getting in the way as you dig down. I'm awaiting energy to try this again (heart needed a rest anyway--this is stressful!)

OMG, I can't believe I've reached 400! I remember when I first started playing, I "ran out" of levels--now they have so many! :) I beat all the available levels (to level 60 or something--can't remember exactly.) So I stopped playing for awhile; went back from time-to-time to 3-star prev. levels. Didn't pay attention to the updates, so when new levels were added, I didn't "catch on" until a few months later... Ooops!

Level 401: 12 fire in 25 moves (4JC.) This layout is a bit different. There's a window/cutout in the middle of the board that looks like a block-letter capital "A". There are 2 flames inside the "A", but all the rest of the fire is in a section at the bottom. These flames are separated from the rest of the board by the A-cutout in the middle, and triple-boarded crates on each side.

http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag81/Beadsbykat/400%20up%20-%20JMD/0dba5c12-5441-42e8-90ac-31365a80c44d_zpsb097593c.jpg

When I first saw this, I wondered how in the world do you get this fire out? I was pretty puzzled; took me awhile to figure it out. I realized you can't just use vertical blasters, cuz the fire just spreads right back to whatever flames you extinguish (cuz the fire has nowhere else to go...unless you clear the crates.) I tried diamond + blaster combos a couple times, but they didn't help that much (the vertical blasters put a few flames out, but the horiz./row blasters just hit other jewels--no fire.) Luckily, with only 4 colors in play, it's pretty easy to make special jewels. But it's still difficult when you can't access the fire directly. So I tried breaking the crates. I figured if you can clear them on one side, then you could get a row blaster to drop to the bottom and blast the fire (or hopefully a blaster and a bomb--the perfect combo!)

I finally passed by using a blaster + bomb first, towards the center of the board. It put the "A" flames out, and several at the bottom-center. I had been working on the crates on one side, and already had a diamond there. Almost immediately, I made a yellow blaster next to it--so I combined them. It worked perfectly, because I had 3 yellow jewels in the bottom area. That did it--wiped all the fire out (and that was only like 9 moves in or something--Yay!)

Level 402: 40 glass in 30 moves (4JC.) This level has several large window/cutouts, that effectively cuts the board into 3 narrow areas. There's a 3-headed snake body in each bottom corner, with glass underneath (so you have to **** all the snakes.)

http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag81/Beadsbykat/400%20up%20-%20JMD/3c5ed1b7-5977-4e83-923b-286d3ee54948_zps72fb092c.jpg

This one is tricky--it's very difficult to clear all those snakes in just 30 moves. There's not a lot of "depth" in the rows/areas, either...making it harder to make special jewels than usual (esp. for a 4-color level.) I made sure to start each round with at least one snake-clearing move (or I'd restart it.) Sometimes I'd find there's only one or 2 moves, then the screen would reshuffle. I had several rounds like that, where I had very little control over what happened. Eventually, you get lucky, though...and get some good combo opportunities. (Hopefully lots of diamonds--on their own for taking out snakes, or combined with another special jewel...)

I finally passed, in a round where I began with 2 snake-****ing moves. And after that, others just kept presenting themselves. The last couple snakes got taken out by 1. a blaster, and 2. a blaster + bomb. Then I was able to make two diamonds. I couldn't combo them (but they're still so effective.) After that, I had one glass left...that I just couldn't seem to clear. But as my very last move, I was able to combine another blaster + bomb...and took out that last glass (yay!)

I'm relaxing over at the Pond of Serenity (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?59679-Pond-of-Serenity-Levels-403-408-(Region-68)) now...lovely island! Raccoon Residence was pretty fun, too (quite challenging, lol!) Thanks, TL!

This island was painful!

TL made chnges to the time and moves, which was great and definitely needed! I only got 2 stars once, everything else was 1 star so I'll be going back to easier levels to improve my scores and get enough stars to move on...

Here are the updates:
level 397: They added 15 moves making it 70.

Level 398: Also has 15 more moves making it 70.

Level 399: 15 more seconds bringing it to 1:05. This one was tough to get a blaster down to the bottomto extinguish all the fire! On the round I passed I managed to make two diamonds. One got rid of the last head of one snake and the other I swapped with a blaster, which took out the other snake and the fires. I think it was all luck.

Level 400: 35 more seconds so now it's 3:45. So helpful! I found this Level fun though, as challenging as it was. I like longer timed Levels. It's so frustrating to run out of time on a level that's, say, 30 seconds and then have to wait for more energy. I feel like I actually have a chance with these!

Level 401: Now has 35 moves. They added 10. This was another really painful one. It took me eight tries. Eveytime I got a fire out it just spread back. Also has anyone noticed that this one really lags when the jewels fall after extinguishing fire? Finally I had a round with 3 diamonds and that took care of everything. I thought I'd be at this level forever!

Level 402: 5 moves have been added, so it's at 35 now. *I agree with Phaedrakiki that it helps to start with a match that ****s a snake head. It helps to clear up a little space.

I give Phaedrakiki and everyone else who got through these without the changes so much credit. I can't imagine having to finish these with less time or moves!
