I've been playing CS since November 2012, and have sent my Knights out every day for a good half the year since I unlocked the "Summon the Alicorn" quest.

Is there a specific quest, or some tip to speed this up?

Invest in four leaf clovers, wish on shooting stars, put forth a lot of positive energy to get that sweet, sweet karma back, then hope. Hope so hard.

It's totally random from what I hear. Rare drop, etc etc.

I stopped playing for 6 weeks, then came back and collected from the castle and got the wing i needed first try.

Maybe threatening the game you are willing to quit will work for you too.

Unfortunately there's not tips or tricks to speed this up (except for using gems to skip). You'll just need to keep going on adventures (any one can drop parts).
