Disappearing gold?

I'm new to this game, but I've had my gold disappear several different occasions. This is becoming extremely frustrating. Has anyone else had this, or a similar problem?

Everyone occurs this problem every once in a while. We have to be careful where and what we click. On iOS, if you play on that, you will notice clicking on the den, nest, Etc will have you speeding up. You may be clicking too fast and speed up some food or am expansion perhaps?
