I hope this comes back soon. I actually made it to round 4 without looping... But I only gained two pearls. Until then I'll just heal my dragons and patiently wait for it to come back.

While we're waiting to get the tournament back, I wanted to ask what in the world I should plan on trying to do to defeat Crusader in the later rounds. In the last tournament, I wasn't able to beat Crusader despite trying SO mnay things, so I didn't get YinYang. My worst problem is that I don't have diamond dragons. I think Mindvolt is the most suggested non-diamond opponent, but it didn't work for me. I tried every blue-yellow I had, as well as anything anyone else ever said worked. Seeing that I'm going to face Crusader again makes me bummed I'll never win the tournament. :(

Any diamond based dragon is weak against diamond based dragon itself...but if you don't have it, try lightning, aether, or mistmoth. Actually crusader was a little beat weaker then later on opponent ( dark angel, helios ). But don't give up before trying ��.

This is going to sound weird, but if you don't have any ultra-rare dragons, it doesn't matter much what you use against a Crusader-16. Even epic ultras have fairly low odds against this dragon, so your non-ultras may not do terribly worse. Fight the red element's weakness, using any YELLOW, BLUEor STONEdragons you have, making sure they don't have green in them.
Here's an even weirder tip: start fighting it with younger dragons that you can afford to have exhausted. The level 16 outpaces all your dragons to the point where it doesn't matter what level you bring against it. Persistence and luck will beat this dragon for you.
Make sure you save good dragons for the opponents after Crusader.

As far as I'm aware, it doesn't matter. I bash when I'm in a hurry, or when the opponent gets me mad. I cast magic when I want to watch them suffer. LOL
As I noted earlier, this tournament brings 4 ultras against us in the final rounds, so you may need a similar strategy against Helios, Dark Angel and Diamond, who are coming behind Crusader. Those guys plastered me in Test #2. I had to use Ultimate against a Helios-20 in round 29.

To clarify how it works I want to take out a few examples:

Crusader[11]{13}<14> -> Fire(BB)[10], Coral(M), Mindvolt(MB){10}, Atlantis(B), Crusader(MM)<9>

This one says, that if you are currently battling a Crusader dragon of lvl 11, it has previously been beat by another player by a lvl 10 Fire dragon with a B+B combo(matching the [] brackets), if you are battling a lvl 13 Crusader draon, previously a player has been successful with using a lvl 10 Mindvolt with the M+B combo (by matching the {} brackets) - you get the idea.

If there is ever an empty set of brackets, it is because someone forgot to put down the level/combo he used, but I added them to the list for completion.

I understood it to mean we all will start back at square one. Or Jake wouldnt have told players near the end that they will try to work with them to get the dragon or gold. Id email them ahead of an announcement later. Gold is gold!

I won the Tournement last night ( my time ) and got the egg and it's about to hatch
So I'm happy about that
I was charged double 4 times to speed the battles AND lost 6 Pearls from my storage
But that's not my biggest problem right now

I just checked and although I finished all 30 battles and the Tournament is turned off, the amount of gold needed to speed time between battles is still 4, it hasn't gone back to 1 gold

I feel the same way, as long as they put back my 10 wins I'm good, and no I don't want leviathan balls to compensate for my losses, I already have one leviathan and don't need another. I just want my 10 wins back or the gold I spent on speeding up the process. 

Now I know we need to email Support about issues like gold lost. But what about dragons that were exhausted in tournament rounds before the action broke off? If we have to fight all our rounds over, are your tech people going to:
(A) heal those dragons?
(B) award 150 gold to each player to speed-heal up to 10 dragons?
(C) blow it off as tough luck? (60 exhausted epics - You were gonna lose this thing anyway? Like that?)

Atlas is strong against green dragons and Rainbow.
Rainbow is strong against blue/white/black dragons. I don't see any opponent on the list that particularly calls for either one.

IMHO colours and rarity are more important than level
Level does count but not as important
For example level 7 Fireworks beats level 20 Poison, level 7 Goblin beats Samurai 12 and Fairytale 9 beats Naga 13

So:
1. Choose correct colours
2. Pick rarest dragons
3. Use highest level you have

yes they give two Levithian pearls and the goal clears, but they should start it where players left off

What is going on - I had the tournament yesterday with the first battle being against a Level 1 Forest Dragon. The tournament was then taken away, and I have just had it reinstated but with me having no wins when i won at least the first four or five battles straight yesterday and now the dragon I versed in the first round was a level 11 Wild Dragon! Level 11, really!?

Storm8 should reinstate me my five wins from yesterday and reset the dragon level I am versing back to level 1... Really, these in game mid action mini updates are so confusing more often than not...

The EXACT same thing happened to me too!!! What gives? At first I thought this was a gift from TL cause they messed up, now I see it really was a money grab. I'm frustrates cause I wasted gold and got nothing from it when it appeared I would. Even my "goal" for winning the battle came up as completed so what gives TL? Why ?? ok so I did force quit and re-downloaded. I again battled and after first battle it said I completed it and gave me the reward but no dragon. I thankfully did not use any gold but I want my dragon! Hope they work quickly.

In my case, the game was saved, i won the battle up to round 4, and when round 5 was supposed to start, it restarted to round 1. I won it again btw, but the next thing come was red banner gone and the tournament was cancelled. I lost some pearl too, meaning i won the battle but didn't recieve the pearl.

Yes. I won five rounds last night and received zero pearls. Then the tournament was turned off. I battled a forest dragon level 1 last night after the tournament was turned off.

The tournament came back today, I had one dragon to battle. Won the spiritual soar quest, now the battle won't proceed, and I didn't win the dragon. Nothing to try for now that the quest completed and the arena tournament disappeared.

Mine was saving fine last night- I had won the first two or three battles when it was pulled. Tonight, it showed up as a one round tournament, involving a level 10 Rex Dragon, and when I won, all I got was the reward for clearing the goal and the Leviathan Pearl- no egg- I used Gold to win, so I am very disappointed

I won 3 battles last night before the game messed up and looped back to the baby forest. I don't even think it gave pearls for the wins but I'm not sure. Tonight I got the tournament back but it opened with the lvl 14 kite opponent that I had before the tournament started. I won the tournament it gave the goal reward but not the Ethereal. Tournament is gone, I've restarted but still hasn't come back.

Yesterday I won 3 battles, got only 1 pearl, the other two disappeared. Today the red banner was gone and I had to fight a leve 1 Forest, which I did and got 1 pearl. The next battle was against a level 11 Tiger's eye, tried beat it with Cosmic and lost. Then the red banner was back, but "Round 1 out of 1" and still stuck on Tiger's Eye
I'm not planning on trying again untill it's fixed

Well, last night beat 6 dragons before the tournament disappeared. So, I didn't realised I had the tournament back and battled a black swan level 13 and ****ed it. Quest completed and now tournament gone. Just like the others, guess no dragon for me and if that's the case, this is definitely disappointing. Hope TL will resolve these issues.

Tonight after the tournament being off for some time it popped back on for me but said instead of 1of 30 I get the dragon for defeating 1 of 1 but I didn't have the gold needed for an ultimate so I broke down and bought some. I won the tournament won the quest saying I got the dragon and was rewarded for having the dragon but no pearl and no dragon so I am out 30 gold for nothing!

Nope. My tournament was fine last night and today I had the round 1 of 1. Beat the opponent and completed the goal and now I can't get the tournament back. And don't have the prize.

This was my situation too - I finished round 15 last night and went to bed...it was closed when I woke up. When it came back I was back to round 1 - upon completion of the round, the goal was completed and tournament gone. No dragon...

Ok... Read many of these posts... I beat the first two last night without issue. I do not know if it have pearls or not as I don't care, already have leviathan. This morning I noticed tournament was gone, came here to see what was up. Saw the post about the glitch and figured ok... Whatever... So I went to do a regular battle and the level 1 forest was there again even though it was a regular battle. So I stomped it. Did a couple battles during the day.

So around 6:30pm tonight pacific, I checked battle said level 12 aether... Didnt feel like battling it. Left game came back a few min later and when the game reconnected the tournament was back. Went in and it was the 12 aether, didn't catch it said 1of1 at the time, but remember seeing it after reading posts on here. I thought that to be odd so disconnected app, came back in and it was still there... Thought cool maybe TL swapped out the tourney tree since the same 29 dragons is lame when near 150 are available. Battled and beat the aether without using gold... Gave only 1 pearl, thought that odd given what I read about y'all giving 2 after tourney restart. Then the island goal completed screen came up, not sure it actually have the exp and coin or not but no dragon... Went into storage and it had taken back the pearl I had received and the tourney was gone...

All I want is the tourney back and a chance to get the dragon. Hope this helps and sorry so long...

Hey its messing up again! Just battled Forest lvl one three times in a row lost the first waited an hour and its back the red banner is gone again. I had won five games battles last night and this is getting upsetting.

This is not nice :( I spent gold on the timer for next tournament while the flag was still showing, then it disappears of course I come to read & is off again. Why does it have to be so hard to make a correct update? The ultimate hit was 6 gold the first time when trying to win this dragon, then it changed back to 30 as the yin yang, those mistakes are quickly fixed. However, sneaky gold traps are another story.

I am still having problems My trophy was back and banner. My goal book still says 1. I now have 80 pearls and I am back to fighting the forest dragon over and over. Please help Thank you Jake and team for all of your hard work but I'm just a little frustrated. I have my leviathan dragon already from battles I don't need that many extra pearls. Lol. Well, its now 24 hours since they raised the Ethereal Tournament banner, and about 19 hours since they shut it down. No word on whether we are getting this back on track tonight? Even a "Not tonight, folks" would be helpful.

Indeed, I've missed out on some strange glitches. I didn't get to see the brief return of the tournament. I know for sure that had I seen a "Round 1 of 1" tournament appear, I would immediately have realized something was amiss. Likewise if my Round 1 opponent was a high-level dragon. Why would players throw gold at something that OBVIOUSLY wasn't working properly?

At this point, I'd just very much like to know whether TeamLava intends to still bring us the full tournament. I really don't see the point of offering the Ethereal dragon for anything less than the successful completion of the originally designed 30 rounds. The only players who should be awarded this dragon are the ones who completed the full tournament Wednesday and didn't get their egg.
Everyone else should be reinstated in the tournament exactly where they left off, with no time lost. If that's not possible, everyone who didn't already go the full 30 rounds and beat Ethereal should start over from Round 1 of 30, but with their dragons and gold restored.
I realized it may be a difficult task to figure out what dragons were exhausted and how much gold was spent on the tournament for each individual account. But if that can't be expediently done, the only right thing for TeamLava to do is to heal all exhausted dragons and reverse all gold expenditures across the entire game over the past 2 days, regardless of whether they were connected to the tournament. The company will be forfeiting some revenue, but that's the fair price of goodwill.
Next time around, turn the tournament on to a test group of your own employees, TeamLava. Let them fight the 30 rounds and win the boss dragon egg into storage before you throw your customers into it.

LOL, because of this TL need to test it first with 10% players. Feel it when they release a new feature for all players at once, really inconvenient, right? That's why players need patience. Some players said to just release it for all (IOS) players. Now, how? ;)

And that, people, is why TEST GROUPS exist. We love to complain when we're not included (myself as well, lol, but it backfired on me when I was on the 2nd test group for the YY Tournament), but these things need to be done to sort put the possible glitches, which they can't always predict. I'm sure they are doing their best to get this cool feature back on track.

In the meantime we have to find other ways to keep ourselves busy... Maybe outside of the game? You know, read a book, watch TV, catch flies... :p

I was another one of those people that got the tournament back temporarily and saw I only had to complete one round (against Level 14 Big Bad) to get the Ethereal. Probably should've realized there was no way it could be that easy, but I beat the dragon (without using any gold, thank goodness) and completed the goal, but no Ethereal egg.

At this point I don't even really care whether they just give us the egg, or restart the whole 30-battle tournament- just so long as I know what's going on!

Finished the tournament the first night, just before the first shut down, not the next day when it came back on. Wasn't getting all the pearls but always progressed to the next battle, so wasn't too worried.
Still have the goal and the tournament never came back. Don't know if that helps the troubleshooting but usually every bit of info can be helpful, yes?
Emailed support right away and the ticket is still waiting to be assigned to an agent. Hopefully on Monday?

I would fight 30 whatever the case may be the bottom line is as always TL jumped the *** and essentially lined their own pockets with a new improved gold trap. Deliver a gold trap via tournament glitch. We can disable the tournament but you will play tournament prices to speed up and play the old style tournament. I may not know much about coding, but it seems mighty convenient to have the gold portion still "working" for them......

The tournament would still have been in progress now if they hadn't taken it offline. I've noticed that the tournament pricing for Ultimate attack and gate speed persists until the universal tournament clock has run out, even if you have already won the tournament and your arena has resumed regular battles. Many of us in the beta tests observed that after we had won Yin Yang. Since the tournament clock is apparently still running in the background, players would be wise to avoid Ultimate attack or gate speeding until after midnight Monday night (TL/Pacific time), unless the reset tournament is brought back online before then.

If you played all 30 rounds and won the last one but didn't get your dragon, email TL support and give them your id and explain what happened. If you need further help, pm a community manager and explain this and give them your ticket number (you will get one once you email support.). Other people are in the same boat as you.

It is entirely unfair for us to battle dragons that are inherently more powerful in bashing and magic than our puny Epics because our opponents are at higher level and at a generally higher degree of rarity. This forces us to use our gold to win, thus making us spend more $$$$ if we really want to play to win and to reach our goals. Why don't the developers just tell us that it will be necessary to spend real cash in order to play the game well and to get dragons we want before they are retired? How about letting us evolve our dragons to competitive levels. I'm getting frustrated enough to quit playing and to let everyone I know who might play what an impossibility the game is. Come on! Give the player a better chance so we could feel motivated enough to keep putting money into the game . If you have to, put commercial banners in the game to offset costs.

There is much about the battling system that actually works in your favor. I discovered early that there's only so much an arena dragon can do. They have level advantage. They have selection advantage (the arena has ALL the dragons at ALL levels - LOL). They have regular-damage advantage. But they CANNOT deliver massive damage; YOU can! They can never win with fewer than 3 attacks; YOU can win with just 1! They can never make the first move. The arena can't switch challengers in response to the champion you present. As far as color dominance and rarity, the island dragons are on an even field with arena dragons. There is no color or rarity the arena can present that island dragons can't match or beat.
Now my super-rare Lightning-10 just lost to a rare Titan-14. There's no better dragon out there with better odds against Titan, so I just shrug it off. It's a minor offset to the victories I've had in most of my arena experience. In both the regular arena and tournament combined, my gladiators have picked up a total of 361 Leviathan Pearls so far, and only ONE of those came at the price of an Ultimate attack.
Puny epics, you say? Careful strategy can make them punitively pugilistic!

P.S. __ OMG - commercial banners in the game? That's the last thing we need! It's bad enough that a big ole blimp hangs over my upper east cliff for other TeamLava or Shark Party games. Please, no more!

They can never win with fewer than 3 attacks; YOU can win with just 1! They can never make the first move. The arena can't switch challengers in response to the champion you present. As far as color dominance and rarity, the island dragons are on an even field with arena dragons. There is no color or rarity the arena can present that island dragons can't match or beat.
Now my super-rare Lightning-10 just lost to a rare Titan-14. There's no better dragon out there with better odds against Titan, so I just shrug it off. It's a minor offset to the victories I've had in most of my arena experience. In both the regular arena and tournament combined, my gladiators have picked up a total of 361 Leviathan Pearls so far, and only ONE of those came at the price of an Ultimate attack.
Puny epics, you say? Careful strategy can make them punitively pugilistic!

P.S. __ OMG - commercial banners in the game? That's the last thing we need! It's bad enough that a big ole blimp hangs over my upper east cliff for other TeamLava or Shark Party games. Please, no more!

In this situation, I'm thinking no news is bad news; probably means the problem is much bigger than they had anticipated Wednesday night.
The fact that the tournament was relaunched Thursday night in worse shape than before, followed by another shut-down and unexplained silence since then, doesn't bode well. I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. But this is exactly why we need somebody from TeamLava to step up and say SOMETHING. Anything.

Yes, the tournaments have always included both days of the weekend. But this one's a bit longer so it could start as early as Tuesday and end Sunday night.

I'm happy it hasn't started back up yet. I was in genius mode and dropped my beloved iPhone in the toilet a few days ago. I just got it out of its box of rice this morning and it is good as new.

I was hoping I didn't miss the tourney. :)

The tournament would still have been in progress now if they hadn't taken it offline. I've noticed that the tournament pricing for Ultimate attack and gate speed persists until the universal tournament clock has run out, even if you have already won the tournament and your arena has resumed regular battles. Many of us in the beta tests observed that after we had won Yin Yang. Since the tournament clock is apparently still running in the background, players would be wise to avoid Ultimate attack or gate speeding until after midnight Monday night (TL/Pacific time), unless the reset tournament is brought back online before then.

We may have to adjust that to midnight Tuesday. The Ultimate attack and the arena gate is still showing tournament pricing, probably because they DID in fact restart the universal tournament clock Thursday night. If it's still that way after tomorrow, I don't know what to say.

Heheh. I've got my eye on those ultras who are lined up in rounds 26-29, especially Helios and Dark Angel. They took out my 6 ultras during the YY tournament and left me scrapping with supers. Give me a baby Unicorn and/or Angel and I'll show them what-for! LOL

P.S. __That was 361 victories, baby. 331 in regular arena and 30 in tournament. It's never enough when you're obsessed.
When my den fails me for weeks at a time, arena battles are what keep me going. I NEED this tournament!
