So I threw my diamond and sapphire in the breeding den trying for mercury bam 20 hour so of though ugh magic, nope sapphire .. Can you breed gem dragons now ?

Yeah, if you don't want gemstone dragons, stick to breeding with Diamond and Water for your Mercury.

I think you all are missing the point, Mel asked whether we can breed gemstone dragons now, not what egg it was.
As for your ques, yes we can indeed breed gemstone dragons now. This is very new so we don't have all the info yet, but from what people have posted, so far if you breed a gem with a diamond you can get the gem back. Also gemstone dragons might split into 2 colors, like black or pink, when bred.
