View Full Version : Your poems for Castle Story

Inspired by Old Thomas' rendition of the Legend of Princess Sabina, I am inviting (challenging?!) any forumite's with too much time on their hands to write their own ditties in praise of Castle Story, or any aspects of it they feel should be put into verse! Here's my effort for starters:

Thomas tests his latest theory,
Thurston sits there getting beery!
Ivy works her magic ways,
while Sabina smiles and sways.
All the time I rush around,
Chopping trees and clearing ground;
Tending livestock, planting crops,
All the work just never stops!
Building castles, cooking feasts,
Mixing potions, ****ing beasts.
I'm exhausted! All the same,
I wouldn't be without this game! ;)

Ivy is crazy,
but Thurston is drunken.

It's a pleasure! By the way, before I get told off for the incorrect use of apostrophes, I wrote forumites. It was the stupid auto-correct that put in the apostrophe, and it was posted before I noticed!

Thanks for the clarification. I was a bit puzzled before I saw your clarification. Yes, that auto correct feature is sometime so annoying.

BRAVO! BRAVO! You rock!

I'm not very good at rhyming but here it goes:

Castle story is a fun game.
Although at times can drive you insane.
Random drops suck.
Takes a lot of luck.
So come to the forums to complain!

Space Alicorns
by Gardienn aka Goldonis Saveir

I once sought a wing for a curious thing, and a horn to go 'top its head.
Out out and out my knights went round about, but brought back something else instead.
And then came my wing for my curious thing, so thought I, "my horn must be near!"
But days turned to weeks as my knights went oblique. My thing's lost in space now I fear.
Three wings and no horn in my paddock at morn, there must be a thief in the night.
Oh spaceship return those ones for which I yearn, my glonder of Alicorn flight.

I am working on something to post. I am a much better writer of prose, so this will be a challenge.

Away, away
He turned and ran away
Oh the gutless knight who wouldn't fight
He turned and ran away.

We found him shaking in the woods
Dressed only in his shorts
Provided armor and a keep
Yet he preferred the tavern to the fort.
When the fangbeast came, he couldn't find
The helmet he had lost
As they raised his tab at the local pub
He drained his glass despite the cost.

Away, away
He turned and ran away
Oh the gutless knight who wouldn't fight
He turned and ran away.

The other knights adventured far
Dark caves and desert sands
They brought back loot and booty vast
From all the foreign lands.
But one knight stood apart from them
As he stumbled through the flowers
We all know his name and it isn't the baron
A skunkupine can make him cower.

Away, away
He turned and ran away
Oh the gutless knight who wouldn't fight
He turned and ran away.

I'm not very good at this, but here goes:

I look upon the kingdom fair,

No change of clothing or bathroom to be seen,
I do wonder how they manage to keep clean,

OK, here goes with effort number 2. Inspired by the many poems and pieces of music written about arrivals here is my epic:

The non-arrival of the dragon.

The egg will fall down from the roost, the day it did gave me a boost
But no dragon to me came, instead began a longer game.

First the books that Thomas seeks came so slowly it took weeks,
Bit by bit the rare bestiaries came at last from my lib'ries.

Then Sabina, gentle, fair, told us all to take some care,
"wool, milk, water" she commanded, still no dragon as demanded.

Thurston also had a plan, to hatch the dragon "like a man",
Twenty hides, a wondrous net, still no sign of dragon yet!

"Launch the egg into the air!" "No!" said Sabine "take more care!"
Cabbages, then, took the place of the dragon, still no trace.

"Swords!" said Thurston, useless too, so I had to turn to you -
Fifty neighbours lent a hand, all those records gave a plan.

Still, no diamond brightly shines from the depths of my deep mines,
And my sheep still happily give me wool, no fleece for me.

All my knights have just returned, stinky, sweaty, with sunburn
But no sign of burning ember, (I'll be waiting till September).

When at last I have those things still there'll be no tiny wings
in my kingdom, for two days forge and potions lead the way.

When I see a dragon plays in my kingdom's leafy ways,
Glowing eyes and breath so hot, I'll call him Desmond. Well, why not?!

That was great, Cesar. My favorite lines was "All my knights have just returned, stinky, sweaty, with sunburn

Here I sit on the edge of Saw Mill,
Who can blame me, cryin' my fill,
And ev'ry turn I hope I will,
For the Tree Saps I get no longer.

Me, oh my, I love the Sap so,
Broke my heart to see it go,
And only time will heal my woe,
For Tree Saps I get no longer.

I'll sell my rod, I'll sell my reel,
Likewise I'll sell my spinning wheel,
For a third Sawmill we should have I feel,
For Tree Saps I get no longer.

I'll make no Wood, I'll craft Stone instead,
And Syrup no more, just bake more bread,
For the Sap that I love from me has fled,
For Tree Saps I get no longer.

To upgrade or not to upgrade
That is the question
Whether tis nobler to suffer through longer collection times
But save valuable resources
Or to reduce thy wait by 15, 30, 45 minutes
And by speeding up time, to have, to accumulate
To upgrade or not to upgrade
THAT Is the question....

Extra energy and lots of expansions
Regular updates that lead to more goals
These are a few of my favorite things

And then I don't feel so bad

A Brewer's Tale

In Susanville, an earnest knight
named Thurston did propose
that a task of vast proportions
be undertaken in that realm.

"To the Potion Shop, Away!" he cried.
So off towards there we went.
"You must make lots of glue, " he said,
"on this your kingdom does depend."

"Why glue?" I asked, not comprehending.
"What about crops and trees and such?"
"Those will feed your kingdom true,
but to build it, you need glue!"

His logic there made sense, I thought,
so I turned now to the task.
First to gather sap, which late
had become quite scarce to find.

With no sap at hand, I must admit
'twas stumped how to proceed.
My neighbors, thought I--I'll ask them!
So to my wall did I post and plead.

"Send sap, dear neighbors
send sap right away!
Or no glue in my kingdom
today will be made."

With deep thanks to my neighbors
I resumed stirring the pot.
The fumes o'ertook me,
and my forehead felt hot.

For two solid weeks,
I did nothing but brew
one pot after the other
of each type of glue.

Simple glue, super glue,
and that wasn't all.
Builder's paste bubbled
when wood supplies did allow.

Still no badge did I earn
despite all this hard work.
Perhaps I should try
brewing Magic Cement!

Magic Cement required
so many glues,
that finally one day,
I got the good news.

"Wow! I've never brewed so many potions
in my life," I declared.
"You have passed the Brewer's Trial,"
I heard Thurston cry out at last!

I apparently did so much whining and complaining while working on the Brewer's Badge, that a couple of neighbors thiught I should write a poem about it :p

I was busy in my kingdom one fine day,
Ready to make valentine flowers,
When I released that after two hours,
The sun had been shining brightly,
It's warmth was knightly,
But when I went to my Pond,
I couldn't find any water.

But alas, now I have a problem indeed,
I must think up a clever deed,
How, may I ask, will I retrieve my Water?
Maybe I should ask the hall porter?

Without Water, what can I do?
My people will be asking that too,
No Simple Glue, no Bread either,
No hydration, no source of life,
No Valentine botany, no Lemonade,
No useful resource to the fire brigade.

What can I do, what can I do?
I'm sure my people will be asking so too,
And still today I remain a slave,
To my water shortage, my crave,
For water, my friend, Water!

(To the tune of "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island")

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trial
That started from Sir Thurston's quip
That we would so revile.

Our fate was a mighty list o' quests,
The goals we weren't so sure.
The TL forum lit up that day
Of trials so obscure, of trials so obscure!

And thus began our trial for tribute, we'd labor for some while
With Exploring far,
And Adventuring too,
Trader, Miner, and Brewer,
The Nurturer
Chef, Farmer, and the Artisan,
And Slaying with some style!

So this is the tale of the laborers,
We were at it for a long, long time,
We had to make the best of things,
For a tribute so sublime!

So join us here each week my freinds,
You're sure to get a smile,
From Castle Story's many fans,
Poems we shall compile!

A summer theme is not mentioned in the rules anywhere so lack of a summer theme should not disqualify anyone. They may have added that to the intro with their edit.

The baron is mean,
His face looks green,
He's selfish,
He's greedy,
He reminds me of Miss Macready.

Once he asked for a Golden apple,
I said,"No! You're off your mind!
Why can't you just be kind?"
But no, he's still his greedy old self,
Fat as a dumpling, greedy as a goblin.

I keep telling him,
If he doesn't stop being himself,
He'll end up being hated.
Once he asked for 30 Prime Cuts,
And I felt like punching him in the guts.
Then he asked me for a Truffle,
I said," Buzz off, I'm not giving any to you!"

And still, the Baron remains,
He gives me such pains,
I hate him,
I hate him,
He's mean!

Brilliant, I love it! If I get round to starting a 'random drop rant' thread I will include your poem there as well Gardienn!

Inspired by TL's Limerick contest over yonder:

Castle Story Woe
by Gardienn aka Goldonis Saveir

A top level player I stand,
Still no dragon egg in my land.
No goals left to fill,
I'm losing my will.
TeamLava, please give me a hand.

Love it!

Random Drop Rant

Listen to me, brother, I say random drops are wrong!
Listen to me, sister, as I'm singing out this song.
Random drops are so rare
Soon I'll just say 'don't care',
Listen to me, TL, things are taking far too long!

Finding Thurston's armour was a long long time ago,
Making hooks and fishing ponds all took a while I know!
Still it wasn't so bad
'other goals we still had,
Getting Thurston's clothing didn't take so very long.

Then the quest for alicorn was given to us all,
A special thing for Valentine's, last Feb'ry I recall.
But for some there's no wing,
No horn yet or not a thing.
Maybe go and buy one for those parts might never fall!

Then we got to T&T, and TL says 'not random'
'Can't be true' came back the cry from every single kingdom.
Come, show us then the ways,
We've been making glue for days!
Planting crops and crafting too yet still the badges don't come!

Now we have the dragon's egg, a random drop again,
Waiting on the sheep and mine is just more of the same.
My burning ember's lost
For the desert quest just costs
Far too much to do much in this random-dropping game!

Listen to me, brother, I say random drops are wrong!
Listen to me, sister, as I'm singing out this song.
Random drops are so rare
Soon I'll just say 'don't care',
Listen to me, TL, things are taking far too long!

Written very quickly after one too many glasses of wine. Any mistakes, blame it on the Shiraz. Chorus can be repeated between each verse if desired! :D

Cesar49, I believe your random drop rant sums up our frustrations perfectly!

LOL!

That old goat Thomas
Made us all a promise
That the proper king or queen would appear

If given ample incentive
And the player most inventive
A reward to behold most dear

But I've been a'playin
This castle game and I'm sayin
Such a noble sight nary is near!

But still I'm a playin
Givin' my time night and day-in
Waitin' on that self same promise- but look here!

Here's ivy with her fauna
She's scryin' to Belladonna and
Helpin' the kingdom's crops grow

And sweet mighty Thurston
Who's always a'thirstin
For a sip at the pub, ya know

There then's Sabina
With that manticore thinga
An Alicorn, a dragon and such

But no sovereign in sight
(If you mention the Baron, we'll fight)
Come on Thomas, you old goat, I'm not askin' for much!

Or should it be 'sweet clumsy Thurston'? Lol.

Congrats to Cat Crack who was one of the six winners in the summer Limerick contest. Great job! I loved your entry. It was worthy of the win, no doubt. :)

Thank you, maguar. Yes. catcrack's poem was by far the best I read. Kudos to you, catcrack!

And your name is hella fun. Gets me thinking of a wild-eyed cat running in crazed circles after catnip.

Inspiration has not been striking for a while but here, in response to my "non-arrival of the dragon" is my very corny:

The arrival of Desi the Dragon

Hail to thee, o noble creature,
Here at last! It's great to meet ya!

Tooth and tail you'll brandish never,
Anger's worthless, peace forever!

Fierce claws you have for climbing high
Mountain summits, towards the sky.

Fly for fun and fly for freedom,
Bringing luck* to every kingdom.

Let your roars be roars of laughter,
Flames of friendship burn hereafter.

Hail to thee, o noble creature
Here at last! It's great to meet ya!

*For a really schmaltzy version the word 'love' can be substituted for 'luck'!

Haha, nice one Cesar49! You can sing it to the tune of the first stanza of "Men of Harlech."
