where do I find the mystic maps after my neighbors send them?

I want to do an expansion and it says that I need one mystic map. My grandson sent one, but it hasn't shown up. How do I know that I can actually do the expansion? Where does it show up at?

If you click on the area you want to expand it will be there

Do you have to keep the expansion dialog open while you wait for a neighbor to reply, or do I just need to remember the block that I chose when I requested the map?

No. You don't have to keep it open and It doesn't matter which block you request it from, it will appear on any block you click on. As you build up more neighbours you will use them to request more maps
