Clearing Message board

How on earth can the "Pending Gifts" be cleared when the gifts have been accepted? They are cluttering up my message tab.

Each day this will show the last 20 gifts you received regardless of whether you've accepted them or not. When you gift back they'll disappear from the list for the rest of the day.
