Help needed on level 56

Do you need bombs to get past the black balls to finish level or is there another way that I haven't worked out?

You don't need the bombs (although you can use them if you want).

The key is to burst the poison bubbles as quickly as possible. You sacrifice 12 bubbles for the sake of getting to that central star bubble.

Thanks, tried that but still left with one colour set of bubbles above the black ones. I'll have to keep trying !

Hm, well, there are 3 star bubbles and 3 colors of babies above, so make sure you ONLY pop the star bubbles with a color that a baby is in.
