After only 2 books in 2 days,I skipped the books,second goal was to give wool and 2 more things to sabina(I forgot),THEN you have to make a net for thurston:10 mithrill,50 wool,and I jeez,I just forgot how many of the blue potion stuff in potion shop(at least 10)sorry so frantic w amounts,was trying so hard to remember.i need some more wool to make the net,then that takes 8 hours to make in the forge.thats all the current info I got:)


I made The net. It needs 10 mithril, 50 wool, 5 enchanter essence.

Next quest: you need 50 cabbages (you better prepare for it...)
Next: you need 5 longsword.
Next: you need 50 library record (you have to ask neighbours to send...so it will take 2 days.) I am currently here. Wont skipnbecause it takes 200 gem.

I got my egg this morning from The nest. I skipped The book quest, made through others (with some speeding)

Please note that if you buy the baby dragon it will not trigger the quest. You'll get the quest when you get an egg from the roost.

The baby dragon is ready to tend every hour and takes about 20 tends to mature.

Has been reported to drop coins, coal, dragon scales, longswords, light armour, jewels, earth wisps, energy and gems. The collection time is 22 hours once it is fully grown.

Sounds pretty cool, and a lot deeper than I originally thought. Not thrilled about the fact that it is apparently contingent on some unknown luck factor to even get started. Seems to be a recurring theme these days.

Yeah for an entire quest line, there should be an automatic trigger like collecting from Ivy/Thomas/Thurston/Sabina in past quest lines. I went to my roost this morning and got an egg, unfortunately it was a manticore.

I hate this whole random drop thing. It's ridiculous. It doesn't treat all game players fairly! It's a quest line so should be available to everyone who plays the game at the same time. Not by some stupid random drop. I think by the fact that some people still don't have a wing or a horn for the alicorn 5 MONTHS after valentines says it all. Take advice from the people who play the game as we are the ones who spend hard earned money on the game sometimes

Wow I guess I was really lucky on this one. This morning I got the popup saying there was a dragon egg, collected from my roost and got the egg. I assumed it was meant to work as the manticore egg did. A really rare drop only after the first one.

I have to be honest. I am really tired of the random drop eggs. I have been a devoted player for many many months and still lack the Alicorn. I did not get excited about the new dragon egg because I know the pattern. it is a very slim chance I will get it considering my experience with the game.
A devoted player, who has given so much time to the game, should be able to obtain the egg without spending a lot of money or hoping to be one of the few that recieves a lucky "drop".
The game play has to change or many are destined to leave.
Everyone deletes games when they stop being fun.

You know it's kind of funny. I installed dragon story because I got a goal, but I thought it was kind of fun for a while and though I might keep playing past all the Castle Story goals. Then I realized the entire game was waiting a day for dragon egg that inevitably was not the dragon egg I was looking for...

This update had promise, but if I wanted to play DS, I'd play DS.

We did not have to wait for the manticore egg why do we have to wait for a dragon???? I don't understand when the alicorn was the same and we had no control over if we got it or not. Even though I both bought AND found an egg,I really think everyone should the goals,not when you get lucky-please TL,do not turn Castle into the frustration that is Dragon Story,a few chance items are ok,but players like Castle because you used to be able to work hard on your kindom and guarantee get rewarded,if they wanted a game based on chance,they would've gone to Dragon.

Hi I have 2 libraries (1 level 5 & 1 level 2) I have received 2 bestiary books from my level 2 which I built today and 1 from my level 5 which I've had for months. The book received from my level 5 building doesn't show in my inventory!!!!! Any ideas anyone???

wait until you get the egg. then it's a laundry list of " go get this" and "go do that" one of which requires gathering a rare drop of Golden Fleece from sheep. it's a long term goal,.. I say just play and let it happen, as there seems little return from getting it. coin and XP. I have no need for that.

I know what you mean!!! I hate to complain but the Alicorn and T&T are my only goals. If I am lucky enough to get a dragon egg from my roost (which I am guessing I am not that lucky) it sounds like the quest to hatch it will be fun. They should have made a new area for us to expand to to get the egg instead of making it a random, "rare" drop. Like they did with Sabina. Ya know???

You will need to expand to the forgotten roost. It's 25 wisp lanterns to do so. As soon as I did the "view" goal & paid the coins as 25 wisp lanterns I got the dragon egg. It takes like 2 days to incubate in the magic forge which mines is doing now.

The roost will occasionally drop another manticore egg, but it is a rare drop. You can also purchase manticore eggs using gems.

I assume you are referring to the popup that says that dragon eggs are available from the forgotten roost. That popup is just informational. It does not mean that you have an egg.

Like I stated in my previous comment, The game is quickly becoming boring. I have collected twice from roost and no egg. I go on an adventure EVERY day, and no Alicorn. Sorry TeamLava, this WAS an awesome game. But now, when devoted players continue to work hard at their Kingdom, they are NOT awarded. While others get multiple eggs and defend the game. Deleting VERY soon Im afraid.

I think they're probably aiming to make this game more like Dragon story (which I imagine must be their most profitable game given all the updates it gets), only gem buyers who constantly speed with gems for more chances at being "lucky" will get everything the game has to offer in a timely fashion. No dragon egg again for me today.

That's okay, I dont drink coffee and I whine frequently. ;) I hate the random drops, too. Its taken all the fun out of the game. What was helpful for me is to take breaks from the forum, where all the intensity of wanting it to Hurry Already just makes me unhappy.

I'm not crazy about random drops either but, by having them its kind of an incentive for me to keep playing, since I've finished all my goals ( other than the ones which involve random drops). I've expanded my kingdom fully and I'm on level 30. I finish my goals way before the next update comes. So, it kind of gets slightly boring. The randomness makes me want to come back and play and see if I could get a wing or a badge... Besides, what's the hurry. Lets sit back and enjoy the game. (Trust me, you'll reach level30, complete all expansions and finish all non-random related goals in no time at all).

I got the dragon egg on my first collection from the Roost after the goal came out however, no encyclopedia bestiary yet. Have 5 libraries. One level 5 and four level 1. Hope to get these bestiaries soon.

Teamlava shouldn't be making castle story like dragon story though. If we wanted it we would download it and play it. But we don't we want to play castle story and they should keep it as castle story. Stuff the whole random drop thing as people clearly don't like it. Some may be lucky and get alicorn parts, and dragon eggs and badges pretty quickly. I just don't think it's a fair game to play with the random drops. I love the game and so do many others bed just wish that teamlava, like I said in a previous comment, would listen to the people who play on a daily basis. They have to listen to the criticism about the game as well as the compliments. We're not just doing it to complain because we haven't got what we want. I get the rare drops of spell books and whatever. But when it's a new quest line it should be there ready for everyone at the same time. 10 more mithrils again? And I thought it is supposed to be rarer than finding a polky dot dragon dancing in the town square. Lol, anyway, no eggs today too. I think I will just play normal and pretend there is no such things as dragon egg. Hope more info will come in. I like to learn more about the goals that follows.

Do you have the rainbow? I just realised in love shack, the rainbow comes before ailcorn. I only just got the letter goal (part 4) which leads to rainbow, and thought... Because I'm lev 30, had horn for ages no wing, that maybe we have to do the rainbow goal first . I'm doing 9th badge, brewer, so can't do the rainbow goal just yet, but , wondering if maybe that's why some of us have had no ailcorn for months ???

I don't think the dragon is their trying to make it like dragon story. The same way we didnt think of monster story with the manticore. Or bakery story with all the pies and lemonade. Every section of the game has a fun end objective. I just hate waiting to get to the end. I have up on the trials and tributes goal. I refuse to spend gems on the dragon. I have three alicorns and just finally got my carriage.

This dragon will take me appx three months to find, I'm sure. Which sucks!

What is the "rainbow" goal? The Magic Garden, or that pink arch thing? ( I amon my phone now which does not have the game on it). 'Cause I have both, and have needed a wing forever.

Pink arch. So you have that? Cos I only just got the 'letter part 4' goal from Thomas. I don't normally collect from Thomas because its hardly anything, then part 4 came up- send 50 glimmer dust, I looked at love shack and noticed that goal comes before ailcorn, so I thought maybe after doing the rainbow, you can do ailcorn. But if you've had pink arch for ages and no ailcorn then it makes no diff. Or did you skip that goal?

I made The net. It needs 10 mithril, 50 wool, 5 enchanter essence.

Next quest: you need 50 cabbages (you better prepare for it...)
Next: you need 5 longsword.
Next: you need 50 library record (you have to ask neighbours to send...so it will take 2 days.) I am currently here. Wont skipnbecause it takes 200 gem.

I got my egg this morning from The nest. I skipped The book quest, made through others (with some speeding)

Do you have the rainbow? I just realised in love shack, the rainbow comes before ailcorn. I only just got the letter goal (part 4) which leads to rainbow, and thought... Because I'm lev 30, had horn for ages no wing, that maybe we have to do the rainbow goal first . I've been reading the comments on this topic and I am lucky to have gotten my dragon egg early. I think it's really important to highlight some of the things that has been mentioned by others so far. Firstly, the only way to get the dragon egg is from the Forgotten Roost so don't buy it from the market because that would be a complete waste of time and gems.

Secondly, I've upgraded my library to level 5 but even days of playing and waiting didn't seem to earn me any library books so I decided to skip that bit. After that there are a few other goals that requires certain items like cabbages, long swords, building nets, etc etc so do stock up while you can if you want to breeze through.

I'm currently on "Incubation Plans" where you have to collect 50 library records from friends. Sorry couldn't upload pictures, was so happy I was coming along with the dragon egg that I forgot to capture pics =P
Please do share if you've advanced further than my progress and feel free to add me if you would like to see how far I've come on this quest. My storm Id is ahilah. Good luck guys and don't give up, it's quite a challenge and I've only got 3 out of 10 badges on my "Trials and Tribute" quest so still a long way to go!

Confirm the required materials:
after collect 10 bestiaries in library. You will give Sabina: 30 wools, 30 water, and 30 milks.
Then you give thurston: a wisperweight net(made in magic forge 8 hours:10 mithrils,50 wools,5 enchanted essences) ,and 20 hides. But the wisperweight net can be skipped with 50 gems.
So skip it if it's too much for you.

How ridiculous, I spent 30 mithrils within a week, 20 for deep mines and 10 for the dragon quest,luckily I have had 40 something of them long prepared in the last few months out of boredom. but 30 means two magic forges in full power run in no stop for a solid month, let alone thousands of needed silvers. I can't speak for everyone,but it seems impossible for those who is new and doesn't have the stash.

This type of plan is making me lose interest in the game. I've really enjoyed it for the most part, but the rarity of some random drops makes me not care any more. Golden apples are another irritant as is getting plenty of some item, like the tails, until you start using them, then you rarely get them.

To make so many of these new items "rare" and "random" just makes a joke out of all the hard work that goes ino getting this far.

I don't know how to put it in a nice way so pardon me if I offend you.

IMHO, TL is going in the right direction catering to the top 5% of the players. This is because there are already 200 plus goals in the game that can cater to all players at different stages of the game. The only group that will be alienated will be the pioneers and veterans who run out of things to do. These people are the most likely to quit out of boredom.

Bearing in mind that whatever that is released will eventually be reachable by those not as advance players, TL should will focus on the end game. However, the dragon egg update is indeed a bit over****ed. While the randomness is still bearable, the start of the chain quest should not be dependant on a random drop. I hope this will be the one and only update that is of this nature. Imagine waiting for a long time for an update but when the update comes, you can only enjoy it base on your luck. That's no good at all.

Replying some questions:

Mithrill is not as rare as it used to be before, deep mines drop relative "often".
Castle story can be played through without spending money on it, just playing with all games that come as quest, you will earn enough gems for buying necessary things like Apple tree.

Only thing that you have to play often with it, better play on your phone, spending your energy every 2 hours.

As far as I know, we don't know how to hatch it, yet. The chest with a question mark you found in the magic forge is used to hatch manticore's eggs (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?50542-Manticore) (follow the link to see a screenshot of the "recipe" in the magic forge).

The message you received was most probably the one that is in this very thread, post#2 (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?54528-Castle-6-27-2013-Update-The-Dragon-Egg&p=672593&viewfull=1#post672593).
This is just a teaser so that you go and look for the dragon egg, which is a rare random drop from the Forgotten roost. It doesn't mean you have already got your egg and it is hidden somewhere in your inventory, or in your forge, or elsewhere. It means you have to collect from the Forgotten roost, cross your fingers and hope to be lucky enough to get a dragon egg. Dragon eggs are orange, you can see a pic taken by Lilipipi on post#2 (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?54528-Castle-6-27-2013-Update-The-Dragon-Egg&p=672593&viewfull=1#post672593).

To make things more interesting, manticore eggs are also a rare drop from the Forgotten roost.

You need the 4th knowledge shard from the tablet of tabernum to have access to mithril in the magic forge. If you desperately need some, your best bet is to get a deep mine.

I thought my libraries were a higher level. I could have sworn I upgraded them during the valentine and wizard school goals. I am now trying to upgrade them because I don't want to wait 50 years to finish these goals. Again, if I collect the 50 gems beforehand I'm skipping!

Before the trials and tributes no one really complained about the goals and the random drops. I don't think they are unfair or unbalanced. I've seen people get numerous manticore, carriages or decorations. I just kept going on adventures with annoyances of just being gifted with overgrown benches.

Now the T&T goals do stink. However, these goals haven't been out for more than a week. We can collect from the roost, what once a day? It's not that terrible. Now if someone goes a month or two without an egg dropping, then I'd understand getting up in arms.

My luck must be the worse going. I have played CSS from when it first started. I'm level 30 and gift and visit all my neighbours daily. I have 5 horns but no wings. I have no adamant or option to craft it. No dragons egg. All my buildings are level 5 and I'm thinking of quitting.i love random but this is taking it well beyond!

Find 1 large diamond (these drop from the deep mine)
Get 1 Golden Fleece (this drops rarely from sheep)
Get 1 burning amber (adventure from desert sands)

I did get a Dragon Egg, last week as a drop from the Roost. I did not speed up the Roost. I am collecting the 10 Encyclopedia Bestiary now. I have 4 out of 10. I have three, level 5 libraries. It seems that this quest line will take time, as there are some rare drops. My approach is simply to play the game per usual, and know that things will drop eventually. I, too, prefer to have some linear goals. That is, goals that are clearly defined and that I can work toward them. But,it seems that TL is experimenting with these random drops more and more. As a level 30 player, I like Castle and know that the quests will get trickier. But, I still like some linear goals too.

I finally had one of these books drop last night and another this AM after adding a 4th library, but that one is still at L1 as I'm short on coal.

The drop rate you're getting is similar to mine. I usually get 1 book, 2-if I'm lucky per day. I have 3 level 5 libraries. I was really happy when an Encylopedia dropped with a spell book at the same time! But that only happened once for me.

I collect most things using the speed up trick (open multi-task). When it comes to the forgotten roost, I always collect normally in great anticipation of an egg. I'm in the same boat though with no dragon egg :(

I just learned this recently myself. Tap on everything you want to collect from, then click the Home button, then open the game back up. It will pause for a moment, then collect from everything at once. Fangbeasts and other creatures that would have popped up while collecting will still pop up, though.

Does shave a few seconds off the playtime.

A precaution- I've been doing what you all are talking about for some time with no trouble but it messes up some games. I'd suggested the same thing but other players have had some bad experiences with it. So yeah, that works but not for everyone.

Or you can just pull down the notification bar and up again. Works but same way. But beware of sync issues. I have lost items before but the time saved is worth it.

I just sent my knights on the desert quest, not realizing my next quest (I'm on the asking friends for books part of the quest line) for the dragon would require them to go on that quest, so I did it too soon... I hate this whole random drop thing. It's ridiculous. It doesn't treat all game players fairly! It's a quest line so should be available to everyone who plays the game at the same time. Not by some stupid random drop. I think by the fact that some people still don't have a wing or a horn for the alicorn 5 MONTHS after valentines says it all. Take advice from the people who play the game as we are the ones who spend hard earned money on the game sometimes

Dude, why are you rushing through? If I am you, I will take it easy and enjoy the game. Last time, I rushed to thurston because I am afraid I can't start the alicorn quest if I didn't do it before valentine is removed. Now I regret moving too fast and never really enjoy the story. Just take it easy.

Hey folks, thanks for all your feedback. We hear you loud and clear, and we'll take this into account when making future updates!

I do want to say that if at any point in time we did something like boost drop chances after a speed up, we would definitely make sure our players know about it, loud and clear! But I can assure you that all our drops are truly 100% random right now, and aren't influenced by gem spend at all.

For those of you still waiting on the Dragon Egg, don't despair! It's way more common than the Unhatched Egg, or the Alicorn parts - you'll see it soon. Thanks for sticking with us, and keep the feedback coming :)

1) First, you can try force-closing the app and starting it again. To manually quit the app on an Apple device supporting multitasking, first press the phone's home button to get to your home screen. Then hit your home button twice, and a bar should appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold the game's icon there until it wiggles, and hit the red "-" button that shows up. (Make sure you do this with the icon at the bottom of your screen and not the icon on your actual home screen. If you get a message about deleting the app, you're looking at the wrong icon.)

2) If this doesn't help, or your device doesn't support multitasking, turn off (power down) your device, turn it back on, and restart the app.

3) Try deleting the application, then download the latest version of the App and reinstall it. This will not affect or remove your game data, since it is saved on our servers.

I don't think it's an app problem,cos it's okay with all the other quests, besides, I normally force close CS dozens of times everyday,I have a bad wifi connection that's why. So it must be a loophole in its programming. But if I reinstall the game, everything will need to be reloaded,it's quite a slow process... And since there is no more neighbor-related quest in the sight, I think I might just give it a break....until it becomes a real obstacle.

I've tried that force close thing and the app for whichever game I'm playing is never at the bottom. Boo! Ill uninstall right now to see if that gives me luck. Been collecting from level 2-5 libraries every 8 hours and no books still.

Thanks for the pep talk Queenzod. It just seems like I've been drawing the short straw lately on receiving stuff. I'm still waiting on a wing. I've only got two badges so far (the miner and the explorer). I guess I'm one of those that like the do A, B, and C to get item A. It been a lot of missions lately based on random "rare" drops.

Congrats, skipped with gems faster I have never skipped goals with gems yet because they don't have time limit so I'm not in rush (except the one like market request with time limit but I also didn't skip with gems). I prefer to use my gems to buy gem items such as Wizard school, etc :o

you should have skipped it with 50 gems if you have no 4th shard. Doing dessert adventure for 2 weeks, you will have enough gems.

Lv2 libraries will do the trick, build more for the temporary use and sell them later. It's easy to build and quantity will make a difference. For the net quest, I think skip with 50 gems is a bargain.

I got the egg that Friday right after to new quest came out (due to my collection schedule). I've collected from my library at every opportunity but have ZERO books. I don't even receive spell books from it either and my measely collection of those are all from adventures. My library is fully upgraded. What's the deal TL? Is there an issue with my account or am I that unlucky?

I originally had only 1 at level 5 which took ages to give me a book. I then built a new one which dropped a book immediately. Then built 2 more and both dropped books on the first collection. I now have 4 libraries with only 1 at level 5 and the others ranging from lvl 1-3. I have 8 books within 2 weeks. You can give it a try

I have 4 Libraries - two at level 5 and two at level 3 - still no books. I rarely even get spell books from them?? So, I skipped getting the books and moved on. Sent request to 25 neighbors 3 hours ago and 13 have responded.. 20 more requests tomorrow.. hopefully only 2 more days and I can move on! Still waiting for my 2 badges and Alicorn wing. No drops from my tablet - which is a bit frustrating - only one shard.

I JUST got the dragon egg!!! ;) I'm at level 30 and only 3 badges. So it truly is just a random thing. Now to work on the goal to actually forge it. (I did the message about an egg and how to hatch it. It went away a week ago. So maybe that's a precursor. Idk)

Yep my level 1's gave me the majority of the books. If I remember correctly my level 5 has only given me 1.

Even though I both bought AND found an egg,I really think everyone should the goals,not when you get lucky-please TL,do not turn Castle into the frustration that is Dragon Story,a few chance items are ok,but players like Castle because you used to be able to work hard on your kindom and guarantee get rewarded,if they wanted a game based on chance,they would've gone to Dragon.

Just finish making fiery potion and diomand glass, and finally get myself a dragon. But notice this, a recipe reveil itself in magic forge,the way to hatch a dragon egg (dragon egg+burning ember+10 lumin essence)*2 days. Which means whenever you get another dragon egg, you can't hatch it unless you also have the amber and 10 lumin essence,it's not an easy quest.

It would also take you another two days.

I did the same. Had 11 mithril now have 1, and I'm up to the net for thruston. I just checked what I need for net, thought yep, have that, then looked at your post, and realised I just upgraded my deep mine the other day. Didn't even realise it used 10 mithril, I noted the beams and it said build, so I just upgraded. Now I have 1 mithril. Grrr- ah well, got 4th shard recently but it takes 50 silver to forge 1 mithril, which (silver) iv been using on sweet feasts, for the amber part. Making my third now, thinking after net, I can do several of those adventures, for amber. Now it will prob be weeks at least before I get to that bit because of mithril :/

I got my first book the eve of egg my 2nd the next day and so far 2 days later haven't seen anymore my libraries r at highest level I only have 2 but since I'm on lev 30 I'm just trying to b patient so I feel as if I'm still in the game as I am also still waiting on a wing and a horn unfortunately it still hasn't shown up & it has been 2 months since I first opened quest;(

That burning ember is about as elusive as an Ali part,and I'm getting fed up with making sweet feasts for the so far only known adventure that spits it out!would be nice to know if after the first time you do what the goal says(go on desert adventure,which I've done plenty of times),you could still get the ember from the other adventures,like the Ali parts.

From its gem price, my wild guess is its drop rate is 1/15. And alicorn part is 1/35. But for the first time,it's somehow much easier! I bet you will have it within a week.

Getting a bit depressing. Alicorn took 4 months,but this being such a long quest to be not even able to start it...urgh!

No egg for me yet. Getting a bit fed up to be honest. The game needs an update that starts for everyone instead of randomly. Think if teamlava keep bringing out updates like this I won't be playing for much longer

Thanks to all of the good information I have found on here, I am at least getting some things prepared & gathered ahead of time.
