What Are These Shards People Are Talking About?

I have no idea what these elusive shards people talk about on the forum? I am at level 30 and have zero goals left? Did I just burn through them, luck out and get them without realizing it or what?

U get them from the tablet thing and there very rear if one comes up when u collect it will tell u what u need to do so no u haven't missed it

I must be the dingiest CS player EVER...lol! Just looked in my inventory and "discovered" I actually have four knowledge shards...shish:)!! I have to laugh at myself!!
