Out Of Sync Error Question

So you know how when you get that sync error how sometimes you lose items that you've just purchased and you need to purchase them again? Well...

Let's just say I bought a box and got first prize. Then a "error out of sync" pop-up comes up and resets everything and I lose my first prize.

What I'm wondering, is if I open the box again right after the sync error, will I get the first prize back from the box, or open it and get stuck with a fourth prize?

It hasn't happened to me but I'm wondering just in case it happens because I do have the sync error pop up quite a bit.

I believe you will get a random item, not what you got before the out of sync error. Once I got a rare collectable in Farm Story, got an out of sync or no internet (can't remember which, but same effect) and when I got back on I lost the collectable. And when I re-did what I did before the out of sync, I got a different collectable.
