Greetings Dragon Aficionados,

It is my pleasure to introduce the biggest and most exciting new feature ever released in Dragon Story: Dragon Battles!

Over the last year we've welcomed players to send dragons on epic quests, store them in the Dragon Stables, trade them for powerful gems and use those gems to craft Gemstone Dragons, and now we invite you to send your favorite dragons into the Battle Arena to match strength and wits against dragon opponents!

How it works...


After you update your game to Dragon Story 1.4, if your account was randomly selected to participate in the test release, you'll notice a new building floating to the Northeast of your main island. This is the Battle Arena!

Players levels 30+ can enter the Battle Arena and select a dragon to compete against the displayed opponent.
Several factors determine the strength of your dragon, including level, rarity, colors, and opponent's colors. I'll leave it up to you to determine which color combinations are strongest against which!
During a Dragon Battle, players can select from 3 attacks each turn. The battle is turn-based, meaning your opponent will only attack after you do. Every dragon has a magic attack corresponding to their primary element (each with a unique particle effect!), a bash attack, and the Ultimate Attack.

The Magic and Bash attacks are your primary weapons. The Ultimate Attack costs gold and does massive damage. This is for players who want to pay to assure victory.
Losing a match will Exhaust your dragon. Exhausted Dragons can be healed with the new Healing Spring Building available in the Market. While exhausted, dragons cannot participate in breeding, trading, evolving, questing, or battling. They will still produce coins, however.

Winning a match awards you with 1 Leviathan Pearl. What good are those? Leviathan Pearls can be combined at the Spell Shop to craft the new and exclusive Leviathan Dragon! Periodically, we'll release a new reward with a corresponding new craftable dragon!

FAQ

When will this feature be available on Android/Kindle?
All I can say at this time is that it will be available on Android/Kindle, along with all of the backlogged features. We're working on a way to catch things up and keep them caught up. Your patience is appreciated.

I updated and I don't see the Battle Arena, AHHHH!
During this testing period, we're only releasing to a small group of players. Stay tuned for the larger release!

Why are some of my dragon opponents higher than level 10?
To challenge higher level players. Keep in mind though, the most important factor in determining your chances of victory are the colors of your dragon in relation to the opponent's colors, not the level.

If you use Ultimate, you will win. You can use it on any hit.

If you use it on the first hit, it might not be a One Hit ****. You may still need to make additional moves, but you will always win.






B+ Means Critical Hit
B++ Means More than Half Damage
B+++ Means 95% damage or 1 hit KO









Battling Arctic Challengers

Since we don't know the strengths and weaknesses (assuming there are any) of the three Arctic elements, the PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD is to gather information on island champions that have beaten Arctic challengers in the arena.
Bear in mind that victors over these challengers are not necessarily the champions with the best colors or odds. We are only seeking to MAYBE recognize some pattern of dominance, and offer suggestions to players who prefer not to randomly select champions.
Please don't ask for suggestions on specific dragons. Just post your NON-ULTIMATE victories and search the thread for any Arctic challenger that's bugging you.

Note: Dragons currently living on our Arctic Isles are not enabled for battle, although the arena is presenting us with Arctic challengers.
Many players have noted that odds of winning in general seem to have been reduced since the debut of the prize dragon, Gladiator. This may be one reason that Arctics seem harder to beat; the other reason is we just don't know which colors are best against them.

To clarify how it works I want to take out a few examples:

Crusader[11]{13}<14> -> Fire(BB)[10], Coral(M), Mindvolt(MB){10}, Atlantis(B), Crusader(MM)<9>

This one says, that if you are currently battling a Crusader dragon of lvl 11, it has previously been beat by another player by a lvl 10 Fire dragon with a B+B combo(matching the [] brackets), if you are battling a lvl 13 Crusader draon, previously a player has been successful with using a lvl 10 Mindvolt with the M+B combo (by matching the {} brackets) - you get the idea.

If there is ever an empty set of brackets, it is because someone forgot to put down the level/combo he used, but I added them to the list for completion.

I get the pop up and I have a new goal, but no arena. So...

This is great!! Too bad I don't have it but how come the habitats are still 43/43?!

We got TD and now 2 extra dragons... I won't sell anymore of my Diamond habitats, I have the gold to buy TD but right now it's no use to me.
I'll continue trying to get pink hybrids and hopefully by the time I craft this new dragon I'll be able to put it in a new habitat, otherwise I guess there is nothing left for me to do in this game. A big solution would be to release a big Diamond habitat...

So Teamlava removes the awesome diamond hybrid dragon which is like a trophy. Now this incredibly pathetic and useless feature?
Nothing has been put forth to make it so iOS, kindle and android are all on the same page. It is as if the people who play the game have no say nor are they even cared about. I love this game, it's my favorite of all Teamlava apps on the market but I believe it is the WORST programmed of them all. The opponent is already in the arena when you enter to play. You then pick one of your dragons from your list to battle this opponent.

Jake, the quest outpost was given to players who were not at the level to use it which seems to me a waste (those spots could have been given to players who could test/use it), now that the min level for battle is 30 is there going to be the same thing with this or can it be offered to those who are at the min level

Well I'm surprised that I actually got the dragon battles today on my ipad 😮.
Before this the only other beta I got was the boosted breed for a whopping 50,000 apples!
I'll admit that the battles are a little cheesy tho 😕.

From 1st post "Several factors determine the strength of your dragon, including level, rarity, colors, and opponent's colors. I'll leave it up to you to determine which color combinations are strongest against which!"

I don't see the time anymore when I click on the progress bar and the old icons are back where the finish button replaced them, but now I'm scared to click on them. :P

You should be safe if there is no amount where the gold bar is in the icon

Yep but it takes 6 hrs for your dragon to heal. So I guess we can use other ones, but if they lose, we can't put them in the healing thing for 6 hrs. So our arena will be at a stand still. I think.

Mine is 12 hrs for the dragon to heal, and 6 hrs between battles, win or lose

Love this hourly battle arena! The only gripe is using 5 gold bars for the ultimate attack. If the gold is reduced to 2 or 3, I would not hesitate to use them liberally.

IMO It seems that part of the test is giving different times/prices..... They will see what timing and pricing works best

Hello! The same thing happened to me, battled twice but now the arena is gone. The upgrade features such as showing the time clock that displayed above breeding/crops/etc. have also reverted to the old version.

I have a dragon healing now so I hope that it returns! And hopefully the arena will return as well, it's a cool and exciting new feature.

my fault, i try to open again the battle is there, done with the 1 battle (honeybee and opponent poison) and win 1 leviathan pearl ... but you have to collect 99 pearl to craft this leviathan dragon ... goodluck everybody

My battle arena disappeared too, but after force closing the game it was back. After the level 14 firestorm beat my level 10 Atlantis, aurora, athletic, planet, and fire, I finally beat it by bashing it once with a level 10 scorpion.

Quartz is strong. I think it's magic is that pink sword which turned my Fire into ashes. *bawl*
But defeated it with Honeybee with two bashes.
I only have a chocolate and it's not even epic yet :(

Just battled unicorn level 13 against my epic eagle. Eagle is healing. So far tie score. 2-2. I think we have to keep a spread sheet on what dragons beat what dragon. So far my eagle won 2 lost 1. And Atlantis lost with his bubbles.

I finally got picked for something! I battled a level 13 pumpkin dragon (whatever type that is actually called) with my mercury lvl 10 and lost, my lvl 10 diamond and lost, and my quetzal and used gold because I think I was going to lose. I used mainly magic attacks and didn't know about the color thing yet.
