Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone!

The new Diamond Temple increases the odds of breeding a Diamond Dragon as well as ANY Diamond hybrid. Hopefully that clarifies things a bit. :)


I did get confirmation:
The boost is for Diamond & hybrids on the main island. The boost doesn't apply to the Arctic Isles. This is because the Diamond Temple can only be placed on the home island.

Is the building permanent? I heard that there's a countdown timer associated with the building. It seems when you tap on it, after buying and placing it, there's a icon to check time remaining, and when you tap that, it says "Diamond Temple will expire in ..." Or something like that.

Can anyone confirm this? 600 Gold is a lot to pay for something that's only temporary!

Yep... after losing gold on an accidental expansion speed-up, then purchasing this thing that I didn't need because they didn't tell me it would expire... feeling fed up and taken advantage of. Sad because this is otherwise a great game. The gold traps and lack of proper notification about things (YES, the halloween fiasco comes to mind) is so frustrating. I keep hoping they will fix it, because those of us who pay to play will move on to something that doesn't take advantage of us if it gets any worse.

I wouldn't have bought it either if I knew it had 7 day lifetime of usefulness. I hope at least you get to keep it as a decoration or maybe even be able to recharge it at a reduced cost.

From the sound of it, you don't have to interact with it before breeding to make use of the boost. At least...I've found no buttons during the breeding setup process that would indicate that. It's just a 7 day innate "Boosted Breed" for Diamond types.

For the record, the rarity of diamond hybrids is about:
- 1 in 200 for normal non-splitting colours
- I believe 1 in 600 for splitting colours

Did it give your coins a boost? Even if it did its a ripoff to have it expire. At least with the gold mine you got a certain reward everyday before its lights went out. This is a pretty building but a badly conceived idea.

Yes, when you get the pop up it says Limited Time. 6x increased chances for breeding diamond dragons. This sounds to me like the diamond temple is only available for a limited time. Mine wasn't that expensive so I figured I'd experiment with it because I don't have a single diamond hybrid and I quit keepin track of how many times I've tried after 535 attempts at crusader. Then I get it and see its 7 DAYS ONLY?!?!?! That really makes me mad! The wording was very misleading! It looks like it's going to be a waste too! So far the diamond hybrid experiment has been a failure...at least for me!

Yep. It was 50,000 apples to use it though, so I never have. I don't think I've EVER had 50,000 apples! With all these new dragons requiring so much food, I never will either! It would take me months to grow that much food, just for one boosted breed which might or might not work.

I stopped keeping track of how many times I've tried for crusader and quetzal when I got to 535 tries each. I guess if you add the 15 tries from today, the official count is up to 550 tries for crusader. Though I've actually tried much more than that. That's just what I kept track of by trying 10 times an hour for each over a 3 day period. That was in December, and I've been trying regularly, multiple times a day every day since then.

Thats crazy I got the crusader months ago just using diamond and fire..the only fail is the fire dragon..How did you not get the crusader..it was the easiest one to get when you have the diamond

That's what I want to know! I don't know how I can NOT get a crusader! Even if it IS ultra rare, the statistics say I should have gotten at LEAST one by now! Same with quetzal! That's why I'm frustrated & desperate enough to experiment with the diamond temple. It's only 300 gold vs the 1500 it would take to buy the diamond hybrids! Well the temple gimmick showed up in market today for 300gold!!! I'm not surprise since I have boost breed of 50,000 apples, spin the wheel, stables, increase in breeding time and gold, so no surprise there! What I want to know is how this is supposed to work? Do you rub it twice , put two gene in the Den, boost breed for 50,000 apples, lock a firestorm into the stable, spin the wheel, close your eyes count to 10,jump for joy it's 40 hours or 80 gold yahoo it must be infinity!!, speed breed the egg oh dear it's a magic dragon!!! I don't understand why TL hasn't started a thread explaining exactly how this thing works. Does it only increase chances for diamonds or diamond hybrids as well. They should have disclosed the fact that it only works for 7 days, especially since some people are paying 600 gold for it. That's almost $20 in real money. I'd love to see an explanation for the disparity in prices for different people. On my iPad it's 150. On my iPhone it's 300. Even within platforms the pricing is different. Why? I almost quit after getting caught in a gold trap for a stupid Fireworks dragon after purchasing a bit of gold to work on diamond hybrids. A simple confirmation button would have made me a loyal customer. TL's business practices just seem a little shady and instead of building customer loyalty, they are driving people away and taking all the fun out of it. Were it not for a few wonderful neighbors I'd be gone already. All we're asking is to keep it fun and fair and they can do that and still make money.

No, it's not really done that way. The way it works is when you put dragons into the breeding den, it looks at the colors that are in there, then based on the possibilities that are available for the colors you have AND the rarity of those dragons, it randomly selects one for you to get. So, for example, if you were tring for a diamond with wizard and fairy, it would look at all of the possible combinations that you COULD get for purple, blue, green, and yellow (you CAN get a dragon with any 4 colors, but you seem to be more likely to get diamond if you have a pruple or white element in your mix of 4 colors.) Then it looks at the rarity of each. SO for something like a fruitful, which is common, the odds are that 10 to one that you will get it. so for ever 1, rare dragon you could get with the yellow & green combination, you'd get 10 fruitfuls first. Since diamond is ultra rare, you'll only get a diamond once out over ever 100 times you try for it. diamnod hybrids are more rare than diamond and so is infinity, so they are even harder to get. The diamond temple just takes the odds down a little, so instead of one out of every 100 tries yielding a diamond, now it's closer to one out of every 20. What you get is completely random, so you can't just try the same combination 100 times and assume if you didn't get it the first 99 tries, the 100th try you are guaranteed to get it. It's just a 1 in 100 shot, like rolling a 100 sided dice. You never know what you're going to get when you roll it and there's no guarantee. So it isn't like there's only 100 diamond hybrids that will be bred a day and with the people with a diamond temple being more likely to get one, then there's less to go around for everyone else. It's based on a simple formula for every player.

Assuming it really gives you 6x the chance of breeding Diamond, what value does that hold when you don't know what the odds are to begin with? If you normally have a 1 percent chance of breeding Diamond, you would now have a 6 percent chance. Oh joy! How encouraging is that? And for all you know, the unboosted chance is even lower than 1 percent.
TeamLava will never give you the actual probabilities assigned to the various levels of rarity, so you will never know what your supposedly increased odds are with Boosted Breed or Diamond Temple.
Even if you DID know, understand that even a 99 percent chance, as great as it may sound, could still result in a fail.
IMPULSE is what's leading players to jump at these offers. If you really look at what they're selling you, you'll realize it's air in a bottle.

Might as well spend the 2000 gold buying the diamond, thereby guaranteeing that you will get it, rather than spend 600 on a chance, plus all of the speed ups to get as many chances as possible during the 7 day time. The 600 price tag for many people is way too steep for just a slight chance increase. Personally i wouldn't pay for the dragon or the chance increase, and certainly not for 600, 300, or 150 gold....i need to save up for nests! :)

I feel like such a fool. Why don't I learn from my previous mistakes with this game. Like many, I didn't realize it was a limited time boost. Spent 1300 gold speeding up breeding in hopes to get a dark angel or a helios, but in vain. I have nothing to show for it and blew 30$... After being conned into buying that useless dragon stable, I now refuse to buy anything until I read the forum to see others experiences. It is unbelievable that they want us to spend 600 gold for a building whose effectiveness is only 7 days... I like this game, but that is really just sickening. I believe these are expensive lessons for us to be more careful what we buy from these games.

I don't have the stable on either accounts as of yet and not sure what they are, is their a thread to this someone could link me to? Before I make another mistake, although I've learnt my lesson.

I have done experiment of wheel and temple. I drew conclusiion that the chances for big prize suchh as ultra rare dragon or 1000 gold etc are much much lower than what lmpression expection I had. Not worth to pay real money for it.
Anyway as a decor, temple is good. I hope it can stay here after 7 days.w

The temple finally appeared in my market and now I HAVE PROOF THAT IT WORKS! The Infinity egg on my nest was bred just by gazing at an image of the Diamond Temple with utter devotion (and repentance at not being able to offer the tithe of 600 gold). It took less than an hour and, nearly 90 Fire eggs later, there it was.

This is so rediculous, I have diamond dragon, angel, 4 crusaders, 6 quetzals and the game asks me if I wanna buy the diamond mine, my wife is so pist she has no diamond dragon and wants the diamond mine to have more chances to get a diamond but the game never prompts her to buy it, you guys should make this marketplace with better common sense and criterias cos it's pretty useless to offer something to someone who already has and not offering it to who is in need and wants to buy.

Who got to keep the treasure cave? Mine vanished as soon as it was empty. I only got the treasure cave because I assumed it would at least stick around as a decoration. I too purchased the diamond temple prior to knowing it only lasted 7 days. I have only been able to breed a few times as I refuse to pay double gold for speed ups. I've sold off all of my dragons except diamonds and a few others that I really like. I will finish expanding and raise food to get all my diamonds to epic. Once that is done I will make sure it's nicely decorated with "free" stuff and let it sit there looking pretty. I am tired of being punished for buying gold and having a little luck with this game. Honestly, that's what it feels like. I KNOW there are people out there with no diamond. I don't know why myself and some others have such diamond heavy islands. I guess we were lucky.

TL did not change up breeding rules to help those without. I have no choice but to believe they changed them to penalize those of us who were having success. I might change my opinion if they would answer anyone's questions.

Changing the rules mid-game is like changing a product warranty after purchase.

I felt sorry for you. Some players reported increase in double prices after purchasing the diamond temple.

Lucky you, do not waste your $ it just increases cost. I spet2900 gold and no diamond anything. I have multiples of all diamonds and combos Ineeded before being charged double for nothing. I am an avid consumerreports reader and writer. I finally have an easy write!!!

It means exactly that. Whatever your chances were to begin with, they are now 6 times that.
A. If you've been trying forever with no success, your pre-temple chances were likely minuscule; slim to none. Now your chances are 6 times minuscule; 6 times next to nothing.
B. If you previously managed to get one or two diamonds and or diamond hybrids, your pre-temple chances were probably marginal and with the temple would now be 6 times marginal!
C. If your island is one giant diamond field and they've been dropping like rain for you, then you should already know this icebox is neither necessary nor useful.

Yep ! Been playing for almost a year, no diamond. So for me each time i try my chances must be like 1 in 72... 6 times better means 1 in 12, only for 7 days at that. Forget it ! Still 11 more chances to NOT get the animal...

Just an example, when you breed 4 colors together, the outcome is 85% common, 10% rare, 4% super rare and 1% being a diamond. Now, with the purchase of this building your 1% diamond chance will become 6%, it's not much of a difference, but they make you think you have a better chance.

Yay! It's official. It works, people! Turtle sez so. But, BUT (big but) you've gotta BELIEVE with all your heart and soul (if you haven't sold it to these devils) that it will work. If it doesn't work for you, it's your own darn fault for not believing convincingly enough.

The temple finally appeared in my market and now I HAVE PROOF THAT IT WORKS! The Infinity egg on my nest was bred just by gazing at an image of the Diamond Temple with utter devotion (and repentance at not being able to offer the tithe of 600 gold). It took less than an hour and, nearly 90 Fire eggs later, there it was.

Thank you, Diamond Temple gods, for sending me Infinity. I know it can only make Fire eggs, but at least it can rake in the coins since one of my two Diamonds is always in the den trying in vain to get something out of Virtue, Night or Mythic.

I got my Infinity the day BEFORE I got the diamond temple. Turtle says its for ANY diamond hybrid too, but I've had it for 3 days now, and I haven't gotten a SINGLE diamond OR diamond hybrid! REALLY mad now!!!

Ok, let's do the math here. Total time that I've been breeding nothing but fire & diamond counting the better part of an hour plus the last ten minutes, lets say I've been breeding for a hour. With a 10 second fail time, you can realistically expect to breed 5x each minute,counting the time you'd lose to tap the den,select dragons, hatch, and sell...but let's low-ball it & say 4x in a minute. 60 minutes in an hour means I've bred nothing but fire and diamond 240 times in the last hour...reality is probably more than that, but that's the minimum. 240 times, WITH the diamond temple and not a SINGLE diamond hybrid! I better be getting one or getting a refund!

Now wasted 4000 gold thinking 6x results would result in more diamonds not double gold costs. They are worse than used car salesman. Selling a product to increase diamonds, then double wait and evolution times so even if chances increased by six, they are diminished by new wait times. This is the longest I have gone without success. Unbelievable blatant rip off.

Fire is 10 seconds. Was breeding diamond/crusader the past two weeks trying for infinity and got plenty of fires. Tossed another on just now to make sure i had it right... 10 seconds. Which also means that my half breeding time doesnt work for the fire dragon or it would have been a nice 5 second breed!

Fire is a 10 second breed. Forest is a 30 second breed. Trust me, I checked. The law of probability leads one to believe that even by pure chance, with as many tries as I've made, there should've been at least one crusader pop up by now. The fact that it hasn't, with 6x increased likelihood, just lends credence to the theory that nothing has been increased at all. Especially since I was able to breed my first infinity BEFORE getting the diamond temple.

No! it's not a good fail. Maybe gold is if you don't have one yet. Crusader is the worse fail you can get from trying for Helios. And now it cost 88 gold to speed up.
