I have a new splash screen this morning - there is a new resource called the Wizard School, and the Valentines edition is ending, but we can still use the Love Shack to craft.

and it takes 5 hours to collect from, not sure how much energy we get. but this is what it requires to upgrade:

You can have up to two Wizard Schools in your kingdom. ;D



BTW; for the second upgrade, you need 25 spellbooks, 4 super glue, 4 royal blocks & 60,000 coins

I just upgraded, and the third upgrade requires the following:
4 Builder's Paste, 50 Spellbooks, 8 Royal Blocks, 150,000 coins





I received 8 Spellbooks today.

The upgrade from lvl4-5 is:

6 enchanted blocks
70 Spellbooks
300,000 coins

Mine says it costs 300 gems. I won't have that for months. I am encouraged that the screen shot posted above says upgrading can reduce energy recharge time! I want to know more about that. ��

How long is the energy recharging time when you first get it? And how much energy do you get?
If it's a 7 day wait like the Alicorn, it's not worth it.

It looks like the first Wizard School has a 5 hour recharge time and I will know how much energy it gives in about 5 hours. Mine cost 200 gems and was 25 wood/rock and 5 glimmerdust to build.

The increases energy gain and reduces cooldown time refers to the building alone as far as I can see. The first upgrade takes 6 simple glue, 10 spellbooks (from libraries), 6 fancy blocks, and 25,000 coins.

Looks like it's time to make a bunch of libraries to try to get spellbooks faster.

Good point. I had waited to collect from library & Old Thomas' house until the update, hoping against hope to get a spellbook (I had had really good luck with the old books from the Agnes quest--5 books in 6 tries), but alas, no luck this time with the spellbook.

Gems can't be bought with in game coins. You can get sometimes get gems as rewards from adventures, form sir piggles, the purple cow, certain quests (eg market request), and certain trades.

I've seen on another thread that the different prices were 'random'. Not good enough TL, I am really angry now. Fair enough if things like the alicorn parts, knowledge shards or golden apples fall randomly, or indeed the spell books once you have the wizard school, but any resource building that is fundamental to the game should be the same price for everyone.

I too received 15 spellbooks once I had all 40 students. I had 2 from Old Thomas's house, and 1 from an adventure. Haven't received any from my library yet, and Old Thomas's house has gone dry since the initial 2. It's going to be a long haul to 25 for the next upgrade at this rate.

The manor is useless imo , it only gives you a few RP , doesnt worth the gems whereas wizard school gives you extra energy . I'm saving for wizard school here :X

It's called "gem trap" when you accidentally speed up thing. Because there's no gem confirmation you can easly fall into gem traps.

Gem traps are when certain game features make it easy to accidentally spend gems, like those buttons that you can tap to spend gems to accelerate crop growth...without a confirmation button, it's easy to accidentally spend gems to accelerate the growth of a crop when you're rapidly harvesting a bunch of them.

I enjoy the games, but they have a pretty long recharge time, so if I can stagger the "other" games and CS, I can play all day (and night) long!

Unless things have changed, in Solitare you don't have to actually finish the game. I got through that one in no time. The Soduko, though you did have to complete - that one drove me bonkers

You dont have to finish the game , just flip 1 card then push reshuffle , it'll count as 1 game. You need to complete 300 games to finish all goals. I'd get insane if i had to win 300 games @_@

Yes. Once you get one spell book ( I think I got mine collecting at the library's) then it will give you an upgrade option. I've gotten 10 energy before the upgrade. I assume more energy comes with further upgrades. Collection time is every 5hours.

The losing 20 gems is probably where you have double tapped and sped up the wizards school.... need to be soooo careful when collecting/tapping.

Has anyone consistently collected spellbooks from their library or Old Thomas's house? I have yet to receive one from my library, and after 2 in a row from Old Thomas's house when I first got the Wizard School, nothing since. Not even when it's sparkled. Out of the 40 students, only 15 brought their books. At this rate, it's going to take longer to upgrade the school, than it will to get the rest of the tickets (56) I need for the Tinker Camp!

I have 5 games...graciemarie1, as my main game and the others are for gifting and played by my daughter for the most part. 3 of my games are 300 gems, 1 is 200 gems and my main game is 120, as I have completed all quests thus far. I wish they were all equal but I suppose I understand, or rather accept, the reasoning behind the differences in price. For anyone who is saving for the wizard school...I highly recommend it. My schools have proven to be far more beneficial than my silly alicorns. Good luck to y'all!!

And I only had 5 gems in the bank when they offered the school so it isn't based on that level or they would have had me in the 120 group! I spend my gems as I get some gathered so I won't accidentally lose them in the gem traps. That way I enjoy then and avoid the frustration (learned after losing them about five times).

I'm at level 27 with 30 energy, and Wizard Sxhool is 200 gems on my iPhone. I have 246 gems right now without ever having purchased any. I got them all from installing games when listed in the quest screen. I'd probably have about 300 total if not for purchasing an orange tree recently, and accidentally speeding up a few recipes, due to falling asleep while I was playing.

I don't think so because I'm at level 30 on my ipad and have been for quite a while and have completed all of the quests and my school was 200. On my iPhone that I don't play at all it was 120.

I am also at level 28. I paid 200 gems for the school. My Max energy is 30. I am wondering if the variation in cost relates to how many gems you have purchased prior. I have purchased gems every time there is a sale and have spent roughly $75 over the past two months.

I don't see a pattern so far, maybe its because the level 30 has more than 300 gems in the bank?

I also think it's very unfair to players who have to pay 300 gems. I was fortunate mine only cost 200...would've loved it was 120 but nevertheless i also would've been frustrated if it was 300. On my iPad which is my main game it's 200...on lvl 29, other game on iPhone is 300 gems...on lvl 21, and in my husband's game is also 300. I can understand TL testing with diff energies but to make gem cost diff is like a slap in the face of their customers. They do an awesome job with updates but they should really be more considerate to their players. Sorry everyone who has it for 300...i understand your frustration.

I guess I can understand the idea of test groups for different game factors--if you told the people they're in a test group. Maybe give them a better break on the next round if they get a bad one now, like me. It could go a long way to showing customers they aren't just numbers (or dollars). We aren't a psychology experiment. Open communication can go a long way to ward settling ruffled feathers.

I am also at level 28. I paid 200 gems for the school. My Max energy is 30. I am wondering if the variation in cost relates to how many gems you have purchased prior. I have purchased gems every time there is a sale and have spent roughly $75 over the past two months.

It isn't the reason though. I've never bought gems, but must pay 300 gems for the school while one of my neighbours who has also never bought gems paid 200. We've both collected gems from downloading and playing other games but it's going to take an age for me to get to 300. The only quest I have ongoing is the alicorn ( which I've been trying for for months now) so I don't think it's that either.

It might be that the different costs for the Wizard's school depend on what iPhone/iPad you have. It seems that some of the 300 gem schools were from people who owned the iPhone 5. I have a iPhone 4S and the school cost me 200 gems.

If you don't want market requests hold off from collecting from the market. There are only so many of them and if you don't collect from the market when one ends you won't get the next one. There is a whole thread on it.

I am happy with the time and energy from the wizard school. That's a good amount of energy in one day. In my mind it's far better than waiting forever for a larger amount of energy.

I agree .... on my game that has the alicorns I have them with energy charged and wait until I absolutely need some extra energy before using one .... I like the look of them. I am happy with both the alicorns and the wizard school

300 gold for me, too expensive for me unfortunately. The reasoning for different prices is pretty simple actually, TL does this on their other games as well (ie castle story). Prices vary randomly across the board, they clearly have no concern for customer satisfaction or service. They create controversy for the purpose of doing so.

I have done all market requests except for the iron ore one. I decided that I needed the ore more than the reward. I think it would have been a coincidence, as there are so many quest lines happening. You don't have to do them.

I have got 10 libraries and lucky to get one when collecting from all them.... I have gotten about 3 from old Thomas's house ... Adventures seem to drop them often, seems to be a better ratio than the libraries

Here's a thing about that: max energy is supposed to be 30 bars (I'm at level 26), and if you tap the school, the Castle, or the Purple Cow when you are at max energy you will lose your energy. Bummer!

But if you buy energy with gems, it will allow you to increase your max energy to at least 60/30! (that's as high as I've tried to go, and it was an accident--I hit the wrong key when adding energy.)

If we can increase our energy over max 30 when we pay for it, we shouldn't lose our precious energy when we earn it!!

Is this something TeamLava can fix for us? Energy is just too precious a commodity to lose! And, although I'm certainly not the first person to say this, please allow people who are at higher levels to be able to earn and maintain higher levels of energy! 30 just isn't enough to even harvest crops, let alone collect rent, harvest water and mermaid scales and tend to our plants.

You are right about that--and now that I've upgraded the school to Level 3, and have kinda coordinated my Castle Quests with the school drops, I've actually started to have pretty good Energy supply. I was more or less being goofy when I wrote that, venting because I had worked for HOURS to build and upgrade the school...frustrating!

Crops drop random energy when you harvest them, so stop complaining about energy not being sufficient.
I am able to take care of 90% of my kingdom when i wake up in the morning. Thanks to the Wizard School and royal exchange.
I harvest almost 70% of my crops, collect from my buildings (including 6 libraries) etc.
Energy is sufficient enough, increasing the max will just make the game too easy and all of us will get bored very soon.

To people asking questions about Libraries and books;
As I said I have 6 libraries, sometimes no books drop at all but today I dropped 3. So it is pure luck.
And yeah, Old Thomas has obviously a better percentage.
And Adventures have the best.

Now off to collecting 50 books o_O

I'm one of the lucky 300 gem people. I don't have the disposable income to spend on gems. I play the "extra" missions and build up gems to get those items that I want or need to make my game experience better. If they don't want to change to price then offer those of us at the higher prices some more "extra" missions to earn the gems. It's a way to not have to potentially refund gems to those that already have it purchased it and give those that haven't got it a chance to get it.

It can be bad business to mess with pricing like that and can run off good users. Different energy levels is fine but messing with people's money is not.

Just a reminder that every player does not have the good fortune of getting energy harvesting crops. This only happens after receiving the 3rd knowledge shard which could take several months. A player's challenges are different based upon where they are in the game. Remember when sap and glimmer dust were illusive? Now its easily maxed out if not managed through crafting. I can't see me getting to 300 either. I've around 250 gems so 200 would have been possible if painful. I agree that I should at least get a chance to earn more gems. I've just spent 8 hours crafting ONE gem from fruit pies and lemonade, but I only have one apple tree and as another will cost 90 gems I won't be able to buy that. I download and play all the other games to earn gems, but I haven't had one of those in months (Bubble Seasons drove me nuts over Christmas!). I have no credit card and no income, so I won't ever be able to buy gems. My neighbours who have the school paid 200, so it really is unfair.

Well, I've done a quest every day for over two months and still don't have the alicorn. The point is, I don't mind when it's a random thing for everyone and we all need the same requirements - one wing and one horn. It's rather different when random chance means some pay 120, some 200 or others 300. It's like playing a match where the other team is 'given' ten goals to start the game with!

Luck is a strange thing. I made a second account few weeks ago and it seems to have much more "luck factor" than my base (~half year old) account.

On this new acc, I got a lot of mermaid scales even before the fisrt knowledge shard. Also, I found all 4 shards in about 2 weeks. (I found the 4th shard two days after the 3rd, and I couldnt even complete the 3rd shard's quest before got the 4th one. So for a short time I had these 2 quests altogether in my quest list.)

But on this acc I cannot complete valentines botany, I crafted over 50 flowers and still 2 are missing.

Correct! It's purely random.
I have 3 devices, spanning 3 years, at different game levels, different energy caps, varying amount of gems collected and all Schools cost 200 gems.

The jump from 120 gems to 300 gems is a bit much though.
When you consider buying 2 x schools then that works out to 240 gems vs 600 gems. A whopping difference of 360 gems!

If all this wizard school gives you is energy then don't waste your gems.
After all you can still get energy from:
- Adventures
- Trades
- Visiting Neighbours

On this new acc, I got a lot of mermaid scales even before the fisrt knowledge shard. Also, I found all 4 shards in about 2 weeks. (I found the 4th shard two days after the 3rd, and I couldnt even complete the 3rd shard's quest before got the 4th one. So for a short time I had these 2 quests altogether in my quest list.)

But on this acc I cannot complete valentines botany, I crafted over 50 flowers and still 2 are missing.

Luck is strange indeed! My daughter and I started 2 games in January - neither game has dropped horn/wing or any shard. But one of the Wizard schools was 120, the other 200. We just keep sending those knights out day after day, month after month looking for Alicorns. I also must confess (though that is another thread) that I wake up in the middle of the night to hit the tablet or an adventure if that's when it is ready, because I really want to get those prized items. Meanwhile I plod along expanding and upgrading hoping against hope for a rare drop. Sir Piggy is my favorite friend even though he mostly gives me water (really water, as if I dont already have tons trying to get fish and scales), sap, and truffles. Never had energy from him, although I keep hoping and collecting last from him, I do get the occasional fun goody (block, beam, sword, etc).

I broke down and bought the last valentine flower that was hiding from me! Good luck and keep crafting!

I am probably going to regret saying this but my drop rate for books seems to have increased. I did the first upgrade on the wizard school yesterday (I think perhaps day before) and I already have five books - I have 2 level 5 libraries and 3 other lower level.

Mine is completely the opposite. I finally got the 1st upgrade and now the only books I'm getting are from adventures. My 2 libraries have NEVER dropped a book. Not once.

Yeah, I won't be buying it for 300 gems when I know others have it for 200 or even 120. :-(

And considering that a 120 block of gems costs $5.50 and a 20 gem block costs a $1, you'd need to spend $8.50 to get the additional 180 gems to make up the 300 gem cost, that is say if someone only had 120 gems on hand already.

Then, based on the assumption that someone has 240 gems on hand already, buy 2 x schools and that's going to potentially cost them: 120 gem block @ $5.50 and 250 gem block @ $10.50. A total of 370 gems for $16. 360 gems for the schools with 10 gems left over.

Some people may be happy to pay for additional gems. I mean I have neighbours that have around 10 Alicorns. Yikes. :)

I've been getting at least 2 a day sometimes 3 or 4 on a good day. Hope u start getting better drops of it :)

My experience has become similar. I was getting a decent drop rate from adventures, my 2 level five libraries, and Thomas' House. However, after upgrading one of my schools i haven't gotten a book in 2+ days.

I just noticed that the wizard school has a different prices on my two devices. It is 120 gems on the one I don't play much, and--of course--200 on the one I play all the time where I'd actually want to purchase it. I only have 38 gems so I won't ever get there unless TL offers a lot more game promotions. Even when I try diligently to save my gems, the gem traps are ****er--Castle Story is by far the worst of all TL games as far as taking them away in traps. I try to be careful but they are everywhere and very costly. Over the months I've played this game, I've probably lost enough gems to buy the wizard school if I still had them.

Why should you be shocked? There are lots of posts here that confirm a 15 books reward on quest completion.

To cakeandpie, while I hate to say this, gem traps are created by the players themselves. We organize the kingdom in such a way that's traps are everywhere. Ironic but true.

It's less of a question of testing different amounts but rather of dynamic pricing just like many other businesses employ. Your only real decision is whether to pay their price or not. It appears enough people are buying, even at 300 gems which is why they haven't lowered the amount. I'm being asked to pay 200 gems and I'm quite a ways away from that but may get there eventually through the Royal Exchange. That is assuming I don't hit any gem traps.

Think I jinxed myself but I don't really believe in those kinda things...either that or TL scrutinizes these posts, geez! Very next day the drops decreased :( Since that day I said I was getting at least 2 spell books and sometimes 3 or 4 on a good day now seems as though one is the drop...haven't even gotten any on adventures either since and used to get 1 everyday from there after I got WS.

Downloaded a different TL game at the baron's request, earned 30 jewels which took me to 300 exactly, steeled myself to spend all of them on the school ... and found the price had gone down to 200. Wasn't going to comment on forum in case it was a glitch, so delighted that it was reduced for you too! So a big thank you to TL.

Good thinking, except I just tried my stylus. You know something's wrong when your stylus clicks clearly on a cow and it selects the hatchery well above it. I can't win. :/

Originally, I had the Wizard School in my market for 120 gems but, some weird thing happened and caused me to get a BSOD (blue screen of death). I couldn't see my kingdom; just a full blue screen, only the gaming buttons on the screen worked. Weird.

I had to uninstall and reinstall Castle story nonetheless... I went back to the market and noticed my Wizard School is now 200 gems. SMH

You get 15 books at one shot when you complete the quest. I average about 3 books a day with one library, OT house and one adventure daily. Will take 3 months to update both schools.

I love wizard school!! I never considered buying gems for this game until now - I had 140 saved up from the free offers but I didn't want to bother waiting so I bought 100 gems. It was well worth it. c:

I never considered the possibility of having two though... I don't want to go overboard, plus upgrading is taking a while. maybe when i get it to level 10 i will consider buying a 2nd! ^^ SOOOOO much better than alicorn, gosh.

Having two is a far better investment than upgrading one (if you can afford the initial gem cost; that's the real barrier) . I am now upgrading my second one to Level 3 rather than upgrading my first to level 4. Think about it; 10 spell books gets you a second school, which is a far better gain than upgrading one school.

You can only upgrade a Wizard School to Level 5, that's the max limit.

I have two. Love them! Wish I could build more! So handy for the extra little bump of energy. Both are at level 3; just need to build more libraries to get 100 spell books to divide between the two for the next upgrade.

I also have two, and they are on slightly different time cycles because one is on level 3 and one is on level 2. I agree with Bunny that it is well worth it. I use those extras to gather the things I need large scale to keep trades going, like milk and things for adventures like peppers for hot sauce. It's not quite as good as having a 40 energy max (for people like me who can't play for long periods at a time, 40 would be great!). But it's a great investment, even if I had to play a hell of a lot of Bingo and Fruit Mania to get it!

Hi, I got my gems from Adventures as a reward, Quests , Purple Cow , Royal exchange and also for downloading (TL games). I have accidentally click the buttons before for skip or something but too late to realize that my gems gone.
This time is different as I have set my heart on purchasing Wizard school by trying to save gems and earning it from all sorts of things.

The confirmation button should have added to it so no accidents happened :(

I know it s business but I will be willing to purchase if I have the means....sorry it become long blabing just sad.

Yeah the gem traps are why I decided to get a second wizard school now instead of waiting to see if there will be more gem items needed in the next update. At least it should be more useful in the future than my gem sheep and valentine's animals and royal manor. :P
