Mermaid scales not totaling when I collect them.

I've had the same number of mermaid scales for 3 days. I makea point of fishing the ponds every time I log in, and I can't make Luminescence or Enchanters Essence. Real frustrated ....can't complete my caravan items without those. Also haven't seen pink lovecupines in days. I'm playing version 1.1.3 on an iPad, iOs 6.1.3.
