Newbie Question! Expansion glitch?

So I'm new and tried expanding for the first time paid 2,000 coins, waited, and nothing was cleared. Unless that is how the first expansion works, I thought the point was to clear the dark foliage...

I restarted the game - no change

I restarted my android phone - no change

I expanded on New Dawn, so I downloaded the most current version for android "Easter." - no change

Help would be appreciated! I've only encountered one other thread with the same issue and it wasn't resolved.

once you expand after your expansion is complete then you have to remove the foliage that turns green

Ok, I see what you're saying. Expanding turns the dark foliage into green thereby making it removal.

What happened was I expanded. Waited. And it looks like I didn't expand at all. Dark foliage is still there and didn't turn green.
