Food Info - Please Explain

Can someone explain the benefits of a large farm? I thought having a large farm would allow you to have more quantities of food to evolve your dragon, but the output does not make sense.

Even from a small farm perspective, you can do a 30-sec, 3-min, or 1hr output but it does not make sense why you would do a 1hr product considering it costs so much more money and time compared to the 3-minute items.

Do the more expensive foods require less amounts to evolve your dragon?

No to your last question. All food is the same. The bigger farm just means more options to pick from. Less time babysitting your device.
