Question regarding different Apps in relation to original, RSV-day, RS-xmas

Does RS have all the items that RS-Vday and RS-xmas have? It seems like it. What is the purpose of having thos when you have the real RS? I had started on RS-Vday and then switched to RS. When I had both at the same time they wouldn't update eachother. Do I need RS-Vday or RS-xmas for anything?
I am on the iPhone5

new items are visible in a regular app only for a limited time. after that - only in v.day app, etc.

It's always good to use the most current version as, supposedly, it contains most bug fixes.

The V-Day edition. You should get a notice asking you to install the regular version again when they've completed the upgrades on that version.
