I got 1st prize on RS football box on first try. IMO they trick is to have bought very little like less than 10 boxes on different occasions and always get 4th. Then after getting a ton of 4th on different occasions you get 1st.

You can't make sure. That's why it's impossible to get 1st prize.

There is no trick in getting the 1st prize. The boxes are pure chance and the rarer the item, the lower the percentage of getting it.

Just bought 2 more boxes, Spring and Candy jar... got 2 more 4th place items, the gum drop tree and the apple pyramid... sigh... I look for the boxes with the least hideous 4th place items and buy those because it's kinda obvious that's all you really get... sad.

I also decided on the candy jar box since the fourth place prizes looked acceptable. Unfortunately, I got a third place prize, the giant lollipops, which has colors too garish even for my brightly colored bakery. This happened to me in restaurant story too, I thought all the fourth place prizes looked okay in the crystal box, but I got a third place prize in the crystal tree, which was my least favorite item in the box. I want to open the madeline tin, but I'll probably get that third place ugly Parisian fountain with my luck.

Yeah, I'm myself a fan of the Madeline tin, but the 3rd & 2nd place prizes were too nice to resist on the Pastel Package...but on my first 2 tries I got the bunnies (4th place)...then I got the dresser(3rd place) & now I just got the pastel hutch (3rd place)....
I want everything else, although I'm happy with the dresser...

When you open one of the boxes, you will get one random item out of the box for 24 gems. Check your storage for one of these items:

Everytime you click the box, it will cost 24 gems.

% = The percentage, or chance, that you have of getting an item.

I don't buy boxes, but from scrolling the first page, I see that the percentages are all the same: 54%, 35%, 10%, and 1%, so let's do this:

You've got a bag of 100 marbles - 54 green, 35 red, 10 blue, and 1 silver. You reach blindfolded into that bag, and grab a marble. The odds of grabbing a green one are much larger than the odds of grabbing a red or blue one, and even larger still than the odds of grabbing that silver one, but you've still got that chance of getting it. That's how boxes work. :)

It's basically gambling, and hoping you get something you like if you don't get exactly what you were going for. Scroll the first page though, and make sure you like at least most of the prizes in a box before you choose to open it. Good luck if you go for one! :D

See my post right above yours - you can grab green marbles all day long before you get any other color, if you ever do, and the bag starts over with all 54 of them in there every time you reach in. Like I said, it's essentially gambling. :)

Yep, it's a waste. Unless you're that player who opens the box and gets first place on first try.. twice, as I read in an older thread. I agree very much they should increase your chances the more you open a box. I know they say the percentage is each time you open but I've opened enough to get that 1% chance by now and it hasn't happened. Instead I've noticed the pattern it places on mine and can predict whether it'll be 4th, 3rd or 2nd prize for the next box I open. No surprise you got no repeats, this is the one good thing, that it gives you the next in line. So the next time you get 3rd prize, it'll be the jam and honey cart. (This pattern is just for me, every other player gets different chances. And the pattern is easier to predict if you buy frequently. If you wait a month in between, I don't know what happens.)

I finally got the first prize I wanted after trying for a month and a half. The first first prize I got was the wrong one and I wanted to implode! Then I was shivering and getting more gems and finally got what I wanted. I'm sure I've bankrolled Team Lava to keep the lights on for all of next year. :rolleyes:

I don't know if this will help anyone but if you're going for first prize after several attempts, open the box using the Buy Again button. That's how I got both my first prizes.

And that's it for me folks, this well is dry. No more money here. Anyone else who wants to give it a go, I say best stay away. :p It's like Jumanji or the Book of the Dead. It's bad news and not worth it.

No, you will probably get 4th again (or even 2nd) but the Next one, you will have a high probability of 3rd (jam and honey) after that, you'll get 4th then, if all goes well, 3rd again (icing counter). I mean, I'm not psychic and will most probably be wrong. But it's not truly random, there's some computer math code there, I don't know what it is and won't ever figure it out. I'm just saying it's not "random" as in unpredictable. Since you want 3rd place, your chances are higher :) I' m sure you can get the second icing counter in less than 10 tries. OR you get exactly what you want the very next box you open ha-ha! It's a gamble ;) Good luck! You'll need it.

I understand their reasoning behind that, which is why I refuse to buy boxes. I've fallen into traps a few times & bought a box, and every time get some lame 4th place item. Id pay 100 gems for a first place than risk 24 on some small item. I've never bought gems but id be more likely to if I was garunteed to get what I want.

I don't think that unicorn is in the fairytale box. I know I've seen it before, just can't remember whether it's a past lto or from a removed boxes. Sorry, can't help much. :p

That would be pretty awesome. I have doubles of some of the fairytale box items. It'd be nice if I could do something productive with them, because they're just sitting in my storage too. Even if we could trade the item we don't want or have doubles of for 24 gems to someone who really wants it. I'd gladly have given you my gems for it! lol.

I hardly ever buy boxes, and notice that lots of my neighbors don't either. They're too expensive - for mostly getting the 4th place prize. What few boxes I've ever bought were always 4th, not what I wanted, so off to storage they went. And there they sit.
Why can't we sell them to other players or at least back to BS ( of course not at full value).
They should also limit the choices of prizes in the lower places

I got the Autumn Couch my first try with the Red Autumn Box. I was really happy because I really wanted it. Now I'm DYING for the pumpkin coach and autumn fountain, ahhh I want it so badly. It's the Lucky Fountain, from Chinese New Year 2012 that cost 32 gems. I wish they'd bring back the Chinese New Year's items (and recipes)--they had some cute items I never got since I didn't anticipate them being taken away in January. Or at least give us new stuff related to that holiday. Maybe even a Chinese New Year box! There are certainly enough Asian boxes/themes in restaurant but none here, even though Chinese bakeries have pretty adorable and tasty items.

I think the Leprechaun's Piano was a second place item, not 100% on that one though. Beside it is the Clover Chaise which was a third place item.

From the Winter Sports Bag, I think that's what it's called I got a Snowboard Halfpipe. I have no idea what place it was and I don't have it displayed cuz 1. It's huge and 2. I got it after I had already remodeled my bakery-put all my winter items up until next yr. I'd take a pic of it but I don't know how 2. If some1 wants 2 take a pic of it 4 here, just let me know and I'll pull it out of storage so a pic can b taken of it.
I also got a plain old snowboard sticking up out of snow and a ski bench.

I am new to box buying. I do buy fairly regularly gems but normally just buy decorations for my bakery. I was so excited for the new Easter d?cor I badly wanted more so I decided to take the plunge and buy a box. I got 4th prize.

So I got another Easter box >> got 4th prize
and another >>>4th prize
and another >>>4th prize
and another >>>4th prize
and another >>>4th prize

Of my 5 x 4th prizes luckily only got 1 duplicate so I guess that's good.

But wow I feel like that's kind of a bit mean 4th prize 5 times in a row??....is this normal to get 5 x 4th prizes in a row?

You have a 54% chance of getting a 4th place item at any item you open a box so yes to get them 5 times in a row is to be expected. You're actually lucky you only got 1 duplicate. You could have easily gotten the same prize 5 times in a row! That's the thing with boxes - they're essentially gambling.

Thanks for the 54% stat....gosh I didn't know its was stacked that much in favour of the 4th place prize. Excellent to know and lesson learned I will stick to buying decorations - not boxes I think its not my cup of tea LOL. Thanks again & now feeling like I escaped lucky not to get more dupes - phew!

The Secret Garden is 1st prize in the Gardener's Box. You can see it's picture on the update thread for 5-14-14. It usually takes a little while for this thread to be updated after a new box.

Wow! That's a really nice 4th prize! If I weren't saving up my gems for the holidays, I'd definitely splurge on this box :D

Also, how do you all get such nice pictures of the congratulations window? I've never been able to figure it out in game. :confused:

Wow that's a great fourth prize I've probably opened 40 boxes and I've only gotten 2nd prize twice and 3rd prize 4 times but I bet the one time I would want fourth I would get ugly first prize

I like the coffee station and the table for two but not the first prize or the fountain... err why is there a band for a coffee crate box? Kinda disappointed with this box with my favourite coffee theme, it could have been so much better!

Have you tried restarting your device? Do you remember what the items were?
