It's a craftable. :) iOS players can trade dragons to obtain gems, to then craft gem dragons!
The habitat is called magic gardens or whatever, and it costs a whopping 500 gold!

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed with the look of this dragon. I expected it to be more purple (it seems a little grey to me) & I was hoping it would be beautiful. This one almost looks like a cartoon... more like a dinosaur out of the Flintstone's than something worthy of being called a gemstone dragon. :-/

I love it! Amethyst is my birthstone and it does look similar to one of my favorites : Topaz. I probably have enough amethyst gems to craft it but really... 500 gold for a habitat???? It's like to knows we'll all be able to craft it right away so there just HAS to be a reason to make us buy a load of gold!!! Give me a break.

Since it's purple, it can probably go in a NORMAL magic habitat. That costs coins. It was probably just shown in the Grand Gardens to boost gold sales or something :)

A white rabbit's paw taken at a graveyard at moonlight, a pure maiden's fresh heart, a male raven's claws dipped in cheese fondue, freshly mashed blueberries that have previously been plucked using blue plastic gloves during the sun's highest point in the sky, three pairs of gecko eyes, some three yards of black widow spider web, toenail clips from the king of Spain, a handful of poison ivy (careful), chocolate (of your choice) and lots of superglue. Lots and lots of it.

Actually, the chocolate is optional. Just something to munch on while you stir it all together in a golden pot stolen from a Leprechaun named Harris.

Lol. :) in all seriousness, we don't know what we'll need yet. But I have 2 large amethysts, a bunch of scrolls and also some nether dust. Hope I'll be able to craft it as soon as it came out.

Apparently I have 3 large Amethysts so I may be good to go. And I have 2 small ones and when I get the chance to evolve, I'm sending a duplicate Super through the portal so there's another. I need to look over and see if I have any more doubles.

I agree with the people who have said this is one of the less attractive gemstone dragons. Maybe it will look cuter younger or something. Something I just noticed though, is that picture is from Valentines edition. Some of us may be reacting to all the pink and purple in the picture. The dragon may look better in the original with green grass. .....or my inner art student is just making stuff up. IDK ;)

It's 7.30pm Thursday the 21st. Is the Amethyst Dagon coming out or not?

Unless you've been playing on iOS for months and have escorted droves of Magics through the portal, your only reasonable way to this dragon is either a trade of super-rare purple hybrids or a straight gold purchase. If you don't already have the stones, trading out Magics now is not gonna get you the materials any time soon.
The un-sped conversion time of 20 Magic dragons into 2 large amethysts is 1352 hours. 66 hours for each Magic (20 in den, 20 on nest, 20 in temple, 6 in portal) and 16 in spell-shop for each large amethyst: (20x66) + (2x16) = 1352. That's over 56 days! Consider also that you will need more than just the large gemstones for the recipe. That's an immense amount of time and effort for one dragon.
Forget the Magics. It's super-rare trades or pure hard gold for this dragon.

That's what I've been doing. Before Black was released, I was breeding light and pink to get more of those gemstones. Now I have enough Pearls, so once I get Easter, I'll be breeding Black and Pink. Luckily, I got an extra Goblin giving me a large Onyx.

It'll will take you a long time if your only trading in rare dragons for tiny gems, better try your luck breeding a super rare like aether and mistmoth, trade those in for 1 large amethyst gem.

I think level 9 is 10K food per feeding, so 50K food total. Generally speaking, newer dragons take around 100K food to feed from baby to epic.

As for most effecient food, kind of depends. Assuming you have 6 fantasy farms and you did nothing but plant and harvest food for a day (say 8 hrs), here is a breakdown of the best options

1) Upgrapes 100 food every 10 mins X 6 farms = 600 food every 10 minutes X 6 (60 mins in 1 hr) = 3600 food every hr X 8 hrs = 28,800 food in 1 day (plus whatever you do for overnight food).

2) Rushrooms 300 food every 60 mins x 6 farms = 1,800 food every hr * 8 hrs = 14,400 food in 1 day (plus whatever you do for overnight food).


Cost of option 1: upgrapes are 8,000 coin x 6 = $48,000 coin * 8 hrs = $384,000 coin

Cost of option 2: rushrooms are 26,000 coin x 6 farms = $156,000 coin * 8 hrs = $1,248,000 coin

These are the best options, you can get a decent return doing other options, but I'm sure you can work those out :-)

I'm really disappointed as an Android user. Why make a huge deal out of finally giving us a way to get these dragons and then take them away? That's actually really mean, even for TL. I have failed to get a single gemstone dragon through breeding despite always using gemstone in the combo if possible.
