Feature Overview: Dragon Quests [iOS]

Greetings, Caretakers!

I'd like to introduce you to the landmark feature included in Dragon Story 1.3: Dragon Quests!

With the Trading Portal and Spell Shop, we gave players a fun way to utilize duplicate dragons and work towards new ones. With Dragon Quests, we invite your favorite dragons to embark on unique adventures in search of fortune and glory!


How it works...



After you update your game to Dragon Story 1.3, if your account is in the beta test, you'll notice a new building connected to the edge of your island. This is the Quest Outpost!

Players levels 11+ can head into the Quest Outpost for a list of available Dragon Quests. Each quest requires a specific dragon and offers a chance at a specific reward.

Dragon Quest: Mapping the Island


Select a dragon of the required species and send it on its way! The dragon will return after the allotted time with treasure from its journey!


You'll always get a reward from the Dragon Quest, but each quest offers a specific rare reward. For example, if you send an Island Dragon on the quest "Mapping The Island", you have a chance at finding a Mystic Map, but you might find Food or Coins a few times instead, before you get the reward displayed on the Dragon Quest.



Pretty easy, right? Get the dragon required for a quest, send it out into the world, then it comes back with treasure--hopefully the treasure you were seeking!


But wait... there's more! Dragon Questing also introduces a brand new, unique dragon reward: The Samurai Dragon!

You'll notice two Dragon Quests (if you are high enough level) that require harder-to-breed dragons offering "Pieces of the Samurai Dragon" as rewards. Collect enough of these parts at the Quest Outpost and you can combine them at the Spell Shop to craft your own Samurai Dragon!

FAQ

When will this feature be available on Android/Kindle?
All I can say at this time is that it will be available on Android/Kindle, along with all of the backlogged features. We're working on a way to catch things up and keep them caught up. Your patience is appreciated.

I updated and I don't see the Quest Outpost, AHHHH!
During this testing period, we're only releasing to a small group of players. Stay tuned for the larger release!

Where do my dragons go when they are on Dragon Quests? Will they come back?
They go on magical quests.... off camera. Yes, your dragons will come back! This is the Quest Outpost, not the Trading Portal!

Updated FAQ:

What level does a dragon have to be in order to go on Dragon Quests?
Dragons of any level can go on dragon quests so long as they are the right species for the quest. Each Dragon Quest requires a different dragon.

Do I have to expand to the Quest Outpost in order to go on Dragon Quests?
Nope! You do not have to expand to the Quest Outpost in order to access it. You might want to anyway though, to surround it with hedges and flowers of all colors, in celebration of your dragon's accomplishments.

Looks like you can only send one at a time. It is like the crafting shop, each quest will have different times to complete.
I sent out on one quest, but I cannot send another one without speeding up the first quest with gold.

I got this quest and its in my goals I can see the new dragon in my album and market but I don't have the outpost thing when I tap on my quest button in goals it takes me to a blank page in the market. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? And I checked my game is fully up to date and I restarted my iPad too. Help plz!

Are you on the Regular dragon game version 1.3 for IOS? Check under menu-help- small number at the bottom of the screen.
If so try restarting your device.

Your negativity doesn't help the situation and where have you gathered that the users of Dragon Story is 2/3 based on Android operators?

Really? Let's see, you try waiting for almost 1 year now on what are so far empty promises of catching up on features a different platform has for a game you enjoy playing and see how positive you remain.

I'm not trying to be negative, i'm stating how Android players feel. This is fact. period.

Granted it's probably not quite as high as 2/3, but it's higher than people think.


This feature is fun and helpful and will be a new experience for playing. They might not have a date for when it can be released for Android but it at least they addressed they are working on it. If you're going to be negative about the whole situation maybe the fun for playing has left you.

Yes, this feature will be helpful, more helpful if they release it for both platforms at the same time instead of lagging behind like the 8th child in the family that only gets hand-me-downs.

I am so so SO happy and excited to have this feature! I just sent out a red for gold and yesterday, I sent out a lowly 1 Magic for food (not a whole lot but it's all good) and my Island for two maps. I think my Island was evolving at the time so I guess that doesn't matter. I don't have the other dragons to send on quests but will work harder on getting them :-) I guess I'll pause again on getting the elusive Diamond ::sigh::

Does anyone know if you need the quests to try and breed the awesome Samurai dragon? I think he looks amazing and I really really want him!

I think its normal. Look at all the other goals. We paid something like 10K to send robes, but make 4,000 coins or something like that. Or we cleared a 800K bush for 10K in rewards. I think most, if not all, have a lower pay out then we put into them.

Bravo, it appears something cool has surfaced in this game. I have yet to see the update/get the beta, so ill wait to comment as I have not experienced this proposed "update". This appears to be another goal incentive to acquire certain dragons so you can actually GO on these quests, so as to help push the game along as well, so again, bravo on the clever thought process whomever it was that came up with the idea to include the whole quest adventures as in your games such as castle story etc.

I was one of the lucky few to get the quest outpost. Doing the quest are great. So far I've only done 2 of the quest. I have 6 friends that also have the quest and we all are working together on the quest. I feel it'll be a lot of fun when everybody gets the quest outpost.

I was fortunate to be included in this beta test and, so far, I think it's a very clever new feature to give us something new and useful to play for. Even if I had not been included in the beta test I'd appreciate the information you have given us so we can have something to look forward to in the future.

I have noticed, since updating, that my game crashes MUCH more often than ever before. I am on an iPhone 4S. I hope this is an appropriate place to notify you of this because I believe the newer features and recent addition of the black dragons are causing this issue. I have asked neighbors and friends and they are also experiencing more crashing of the game, even without the beta test. I do hope this is going to be addressed. It is wonderful to have this new feature but very frustrating to play when the game is always shutting down.

yes, but fortunately it costs coins, not gold. the cost increases with the value of the quest. The dragons do return and you can repeat the quests. It's a very clever feature and I think everyone will appreciate the new addition to the game.

I haven't noticed an increase in the game crashing, and I'm not in the beta test...... In the past when I have had an issue with the game crashing I found that restarting my ipad or iPhone would fix it - you could give that a try.

If anyone plays castle you would know sending your knights/dragons off on a quest does not always guarantee something fantastic every time. Or where would the thrill come from? I fail to see why its such a bad thing to have anticipation as glee upon knowing they may return with coal or nice jewels.

Nothing is worth my buying a dragon for. If I dont have one (cough, island, cough) then id try to find fun is breeding it. This thingy seems fun because of the new dragon. I just hope it doesnt take months for us all to get it. At the very least its a great thing the costs are the same for everything. Making it fair.

My question, before any crazy speculations:
--> Does dragon`s name related to quest result?

My suggestions:
--> player not only able to send specific type of dragon but also specific jewel property, maybe on different quest; with dragon rarity property become the key to quest result. This quest will encourage player to breed ultra rare dragons. :-)
--> player able to send more than one dragons and the quest may ****ed dragon on duty.. (since I have a lot of same type dragon) :-)

Only a suggestion: it's not true that quests always have rewards if this reward is money and less than the amount required for the quest itself. I think it can be improved if it works as in castle story where always you receive a reward sometimes rare most times common. Let our dragons eventually come back with a decor available only for good, some food, a craftable item. More random than now.

I got 500 food on the second Magic dragon quest and only 200 coins on my second Fire dragon quest. I really like the new feature and am grateful to be chosen for the beta. For the breed boost, mine is 10,000 apples so I only used it once since it didn't work AND I needed to use gold to buy all that food. From now on, I will only use food to feed my dragons.

PonyRoar advised in the first post that the dragons will not always bring back the expected reward, but will always bring back something, whether it be crops, coins, etc. :)

I'm hoping to get the sword from my Justice dragon I sent out this morning. I'm still working on breeding the Landworm for the other Samurai pieces. I've got a second in a row Life dragon breeding (one in the nest & one breeding) after breeding two Fruitfuls. At least the life is only a three hour breed and I need to craft green ones for Emeralds

Note to everyone. I received one gold, but after I finished the quest, I did not see my gold total go up.(But I knew how many I had). Make sure you check your gold balance before you collect from your quest so if you do recieve gold you will not think it was not added.

Players do have to be level 11 in order to access the Quest Outpost, however.


One of my neighbours is level 9 and has the Quest Outpost. I'm letting the jealousy speaking (I'm level 61 and don't have it) to say it's a waste of beta testers :p
Any idea on how many days/weeks it will be released on iPhones for everyone ? :)

Brings a new dimension to the game to see your dragons go off the game world as we know it thus far.

i have the quest outpost but i cant see it? ive done many quests already but the building itself is just torches & an outline. help?

I honestly really like this feature. So far I have not got much back from the quests but it gives you something to look forward to when breeding is frustrating. One suggestion though would be to make the rewards from the quests match up with the cost and time required to do them. I sent my landform out for 50000 coins and one day and got back a lotus flower. Which if it had more purpose might have been ok but it doesn't. I also got a lotus flower from one of the other quests.

I think this feature has a lot of potential but needs something more to it. I'm hoping that when it's released officially there are more quests to choose from. I also think there should be quests for decorations. And I think there should be more quests for rarer dragons.

One last thing, I think we should be given a list or someone should compile a list of possible quest rewards. It would help decide which quests are more worthwhile and such.

It isn't available to everyone. I don't think they've given us a date. They rarely do.

I don't see how that's a waste. They may not be able to use it but there could still be bugs with having it on the island of a new player. Make sure it doesn't break anything else.

I got it! A huge "thanks!" to whoever said "if you are playing the Valentine version, you may not get the update.". I installed the non holiday Dragon Story and now I have the quest. Thanks again.

ok sooo! i have the beta test, & have gone on several quests already. howevvver i cant see the actual quest outpost building! any idea how to fix this? it makes it hard to click on it to go on quests, collect, etc.

Try restarting your device. Also make sure you are on the regular dragon game .

So far all I've gotten is a few measly apples (lots of 50-250) or coins (small measly amounts) hoping for something good soon.

The first few quests I got less than I put in but 2 quests have returned with 1 gold each. Not a magical amount but it is free.

Ok I would like to know why I have heard a lot of the people picked for this testing are not even doing it? I play on a I pad and would love to be playing this fun new part being tested instead I am hearing some players are letting it sit. Jake isn't there a way for you to know if players you picked are even doing this new feature? If not why don't you pull it and give it to those of us that would test it ? I would love to do it and can't wait. So if you need another tester I am available. Thank you

I have a sinking feeling that this wont be released to every1 until AFTER some ppl have the samurai dragon. That way TL will have it fully tested.
