What is the point of the Rainbow Bubbles Boost?

I've used the Rainbow Bubble Boost that is supposed to match with every color of the bubble. I dont understand though because it's never helped me win or even get a higher score in a level. Does anyone know?

it helped me, it's just like some extra balls, throw them when you have no place to throw the color you have. you then pop 3-4 bubbles of different color, that would otherwise take9-12 balls
