Advantages to Mastering Recipes?

Are there any advantages in mastering of dishes, aside from the small gifts that you gain everytime you gain a level for each recipe?

On a side note, I'm having a really hard time determining the mastery of a dish just by the visual representation of the gray bar. Sometimes I can't tell if it's just close to master level or just shy of it.

You only get the one extra gem from mastering a recipe. No extra coins or anything of that sort is awarded. Try checking other recipes to see how the bar looks on there. It could help with guessing the way the bar is on something youre close to completing. Hope that helps!

The gems are really the only advantage that I see. You get one for completing level 2 and another for completing level 4.
