Habitat Upgrade Issue

Hello my partner and i have being playing this game recently and when it comes to upgrading a habitat its asking us to get more silver coins buy purchasing gold even though we have the required silver coins to upgrade any ideas anyone???

Could it be that you don't have enough maps, and the gold you are being asked to buy is for the maps?

There are two requirements for expansion. One is the cost (which is in coins) and the other one is the maps that you need to request from your neighbors. If you don't have enough maps, you can spend gold in order to go through with your expansion... I usually just wait until I have enough maps, but there are people who probably pay gold so that they don't have to wait until they've collected enough maps.
