How can you tell when you max out a recipe?

in RS - just by the status bar

Will it say anything in particular?

There will be a 4 at the end and a slight color change in the bar as you progress. It is much easier to see if you have mastered in BS than in RS. Wish they would make it easier.

Also, at the time you master a recipe, it will give you a popup saying executive chef. Whenever that happens I just make a note of it so that when I want to know for sure if I mastered a recipe or not, I can check my list.
