Pure imagination? Real bakeries? Movies? Other bakeries? I'm redecorating right now (and I can't put money in the game, so I'm a bit limited) and hoping inspiration will hit. I love seeing the cool designs other players come up with- especially the elaborate level 99 people.

So what influences you, and how long did it take you? Do you change it a lot or stick to what works? Are you a buyer or budget designer?

Hi MoreOtter

I based my bakery more on real life and convenience for me accessing the appliances = so they don't get blocked by anything. Im a budget designer and have made 1 gem purchase only so far which I used to expand, and openanothr appliance slot. Being a former developer myself I felt the need to show my support od the developers with money. I got the designI was happy with sorted at about level40. I think! :) Now on 54.

I just recently re-decorated my entire bakery last week because I wanted to have a more efficient dining area to earn coins faster. It took me about 4-5 days to decorate most of it. Now, I'm left with just 1 section (waiting to see the new VD stuff) and to spruce up the wall of the area the bots dine at.

As for where I got my inspiration, it's mostly from what items I have. I don't buy gems with money so I only have a few gem items so I try to work with them. Here's pictures of my new bakery. :)

How it looks overall:

The cafe section

The kitchen area - My favorite part of my bakery is the fireplace with the rug and chair.

And finally the romantic garden private dining area for 2. <3

Thanks! I've ran out of ideas for the section with the tons of counters though so for now, it's a wasteland there.

Previously I tried to tweak a little bit of my bakery's design but always had no inspiration. But this time, I did not have much problems with inspiration.

I think that storing everything except counters and enough tables and chairs to remain at max 100 hearts so you start off with a clean slate helps inspiration flow. And I think if you have a large bakery, it's easier to have multiple sections each with a different theme than 1 theme for the entire bakery.

Man, I wish there were more nice stuff that are non-gems. Like the red bricked wallpaper which would be perfect for my kitchen.

The brick wallpaper would go great with my cafe section too... I tried other wallpapers, and they don't work. I'm also too upset and TL to buy gems

I never bought gems til this previous Halloween and Christmas. I just loved the options! Until then I was also fairly thrifty with coins. I would save to expand, then spend on decor for a few weeks then save to expand again.

All that said, my decor is influenced by combining colors and shapes along with functional to make an interesting place to look at, a place I would want to go. I get inspired by nature, places I've been, other bakeries and everything!

All that can be done for free, and it can be done subtly for the season without using themed decor. It takes a bit of creativity but the result is worth it. I change design once or twice a year, but switch out tables every week or two.

My bakery is a crowded mess-I can't bear to put away any of my fave gem items,so it's a collection of stuff from all year!

My goal is to make my bakery to look like a real life place I would like to sit in and drink my coffee. A QUIET place without any children or childish/silly decorations. In real life I'm a stay at home mom, my bakery is like a pretend escape for me. My designs are simple and realistic (not elaborate). I only have a few tables with a lot of space around them because I wouldn't be able to drink coffee and relax in a crowded bakery. I don't have a lot of "fancy" decorations because again it makes the place look crowded (in my opinion). Instead I create interest by using color and pattern in my table/floor/walls. I don't buy gems, because of gem traps. And I don't feel I need gems to have a great bakery. Simple designs are the look I prefer.

Sometimes I'll keep a design for a few months but lately I've been redesigning every 3 weeks or so. I've been playing for a little over a year and a half. I like earning coins and expanding. I have an UGLY/efficient eating area in the corner on my latest designs so I can earn coins.

Here are a few of my past designs. They are all done with coins and earned gems (no gem purchases).

Even the Italian wallpaper won't work? I thought the white brick-like design would fit cafes.

I really like the new roman wallpaper too but 2 gems each is too expensive. TL should make it like 2-3 gems for the wallpaper but only a one time payment so after paying for the first one, the remainder would be free. I wouldn't mind buying the gem wallpapers then.

I saw your bakery while tipping around the block. I adored how simple and sweet it was. I'm a sucker for the pink and green combo.

I change my design every couple months. I get bored easily. I'm still waiting for that perfect design to come to me. I thought it would be with Xmas but the decor was boring. I'm hoping it comes with the upcoming content.

I like to decorate but having enough tables for my nbrs to tip is a biggie for me as I work full time. I like everyone to be happy - the nbrs, the little eaters (no broken hearts allowed) and me (working full time and playing at night and weekends so no time to be clearing tables during work day). Nothing bugs me more than a wall full of "full" "stopped by" "found 1". But I've still managed to keep it cute!

It was based on real bakery layouts, but now it's based on the silly game rules. I.e different small sections with seperate doors and small amounts of tables, with RVC cooking away. The only way I seem to make coins since the price increase. I not a big fan of the massive items than are quite in realistic in a bakery.
