What do people mean by mastering a food? I do see that I move up levels when I repeatedly make the same food. Does this benefit me in any way or is it just how to play the game?
Thanks!

Once you complete levels 1 and 3 you get bonus XP and coins. At the end of levels 2 and 4 you get XP and a gem.

Is there some way to tell which recipes I mastered if I did not keep track??lol

There's a progress bar at the bottom of the recipe. When the progress bar is full and the level to the right is a 4, the recipe is mastered. Its hard to tell if you are almost mastered or have mastered the recipe, so if you're not sure, bake a few more to master close recipes.

I'm playing on an ipad, and I don't see the progress bars on any recipe. Am I missing something? I used to have them when I played on my iPhone...

You don't get the progress bars until you reach a certain level. I think Level 8.
