Defeating peril

Looking for skunkupines, found plenty of trolls and fang beasts. Do the skunks appear more while chopping wood or collecting from plants? Please help! I'm stuck!

I get most of mine while harvesting from plots (wheat, etc). However, while trying to complete the goal of 10 each, skunks all but disappeared for a few days.... Be patient, and kep harvesting... He'll show up!!
