How do I add neighbors? And why is it good to have them?


Neighbours can send you gifts which will earn you money (just a hint... cappucino's are worth the most), as well as being able to tip you 6 times (if you visit a bakery that isn't a neighbour you can only tip x 3). Also when you want to expand there is a minimum number of neighbours required before you can buy the expansion (the expansion cost coin, but you need the neighbours first, and each expansion will require a few more neighbours).
