Expansion

I have 3 missions to expand to 10x13 11x14 and 13x16. Do I have to do them all one by one or can I just expand to 13x16 and all the missions be completed because I did the max that is being requested?

You can only do expansions in order, no skipping. There's no time limit to when you expand, just neighbors and coins, or just gems.
