Earning gems?

How do I earn gems, newish to the game and can't seem to earn any no matter what!

order alot of clothes.. (try business 1 minute collection and see how it is). finally you get 2 gems per item.

I order heaps but score no gems. Is there something I have to activate?

Probably reach level 10 or so. Then the progress bar appers on the items showing how much you have ordered.
Yea, this is not available right from the start.

In one catalog there are 4 items. Lets say you order the 15 minute catalog blouse. Keep ordering that shirt and at level 2 = gem and 4 = gem. This happens in all catalogs. Its quicker to get to level 2 then to level 4.
