Newish to the game but loving it. How do I earn gems. Can't seem to earn any!

Mastering the catalogs. You will get 1 gem when you reach level 2 and one more when you reach level 4. So you could get 8 gems per catalog.

When you order many times and reach level 2 for that item, you get 1 gem. When you continue to order that item and reach level 4, you will get another gem. Each item of a catalog has levels so you will get 8 gems total when you reach level 4 for all items in a catalog, like the dress, shoes, purse and jewelry for example. If they don't show up after mastering level 2 and up to 4, you might try restarting your device to see if they show up.

You won't have the level bar until you get high enough, I don't remember what level, maybe 10?

Catalog is a set of clothes - the pictures you see in the catalog tab. The individual pieces are the items you order - you get 2 gems for each item, though I got a lot at very low level ordering the 1 min to 15 min stuff and mastering the items.

Once you do see the level bar, you need to order an item about 34 times to get that item to level two and get a gem always - it's easiest to focus on getting an item to level 2 then go to the next. Takes a lot more to get to level 4.
