Team Lava Has no Heart!

I have a son with cancer. I wrote to team lava explaining that he can't play outside and that his Ipad has become his best friend. He likes to play city story and really really wanted the Grim Tower that he saw in other cities.

I opened 48 halloween boxes, and got 10 graveyards, 8 pumpkin patches, etc. But no Grim Tower. I also opened some of the other cases, and in total spent well over $400 on city cash. This was the money that I was saving to buy him a drum set for Christmas. But he looked at me with those sad, sick eyes and I couldn't say no. I kept thinking that for sure the next box will be the grim tower, but that was not the case. We had a run of bad luck.

At the time, I was thinking that I could spend another $400 and still not get the Grim Tower for him, so that is why I wrote to Team Lava. I was afraid of running through all of our savings and still not getting it. I asked them if I could just buy the Grim Tower outright, for a very sick little boy. I explained that I had already spent over $300 with their company.

They sent me a very short, cold email back, simply stating that "I'm sorry, but as this is a very rare item, we are unable to sell it to anyone outside of the Box. I apologize for the inconvenience."

Aw, come on!

Have any of you seen a child with cancer? He is so weak most days that he could barely get out of bed. He spends most of his time alone on the couch. He is bald and his face is swollen large from the steroids. He is nauseous from the drugs. He can't see friends because of his weak immune system. Most normal kids are scared of him anyway. But, he enjoyed creating his city. Because of the lack of updates, he got bored with the buildings he already had and really wanted the buildings in the cases. If there were more updates like promised, he probably would have been happy with that. I was saving up to buy more Halloween cases when the halloween case disappeared without warning. You should have seen his sad face when I told him he wouldn't be getting the Grim Tower.

Then he saw that large mountain and his eyes opened wide. He asked me for that. So I bought 15 holiday cases before my good sense started to take hold. I explained to him that we would be better off donating our money to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or any of the many children's cancer charities, including St. Jude. He agreed to this and I feel so much better.

I believe it is really cruel of Team Lava to have such low odds of getting nice items for your city and for charging so much for a chance to get them. It brings out the worst of us, spending money for such nonsense when so many children are hungry and sick.

I implore all of you to make a donation to your favorite charity, instead of spending money on city cash, you will really feel better about yourself.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It is very heartbreaking! That is what I hate about the cases. We should be able to buy some things for coins or City Cash and know what it is. I will keep your son and you in my prayers. God Bless!

If my kid was sick I wouldn't make a mockery of it this way. Nice try manipulating peoples heartstrings. Hope no one gives this person money as probably don't even have a kid. Sadly some ppl will let themselves get all taken in by this and think I'm mean.that's ok. Read the news. People are pulling these lies all the time, either to turn a tide their way or gain financially. Fine feel sorry, but be skeptical too.

Yes, I am absolutely a disgruntled customer and not trying to hide that at all. The cost of a case is ridiculous and the odds of getting some of the items is outrageous. I never asked for money, or for anything for free. I offered to pay team lava for the tower. Since I am not registered, there is no way for anyone to give me money, even if they wanted to. We invested a lot of time and money into this game with the understanding that there would be FREE weekly updates. There hasn't been, so this game is now over for us. If you think it is better to buy city cash and get duplicate items in the hopes of getting a tower or tree rather than to give money to a charity, then viva la difference. Hope you have a great holiday. And, btw, had team lava asked for verification that I had a sick child rather than just saying no, I would have gladly given it to them.

I'll tell you what, it would be no skin off their backs to give a child a gift, it costs them nothing but a few minutes of someones time! No good will with this developer at all. This kind of lack of compassion makes me sick. Shame on you! And the person who wrote that **** about a scam you'd better be counting your blessings and not pass judgement on if it's a scam or not, it's not for you to say. Karma will get you for being so mean! To the woman who tried to make her sick baby happy, bless your heart, that's what Moms are supposed to do! the saddest part about your story is that you've gambled with your son's savings. For the $400 you could have bought 300-400 complete and fully functional games for the iPad, which could have been much more fun than looking at a stupid Grim Tower.

Its quite logical to try to support yourself before helping others. I would spend it on a more practical use. examples could be food, rent, or even gas for transportation.

I read it then and never commented. I'll say now I have a hard time believing this was started by a mother whose child had cancer, but rather more likely by someone attempting an opportunistic scam. Or just someone trying to further smear the company.
