Constructable appliance help

I just tried to buy the Fusion Shashimi Block and I get a message saying "Build your own Fusion Sashimi Block from nuts and bolts! Complete it with some help from your friends."
Do I need to have the parts to build it first before I try to buy it because I don't get the appliance box letting you know what parts you need to complete it. It does the same thing with some of the other constructible appliances.

You are probably tapping on the little hammer icon. Try tapping more towards the top left of the item. When you place it, it will appear as a box and you will need to tap on it in order to request the parts from neighbors.
