There's a display issue on Android which switches the ranking of 2nd and 3rd prizes. The rarity of the items is not affected, only what is displayed when you open the box. If you receive a 2nd prize item, it is actually a 3rd prize item, and vice versa. Sorry for the confusion!

Did anybody els get the SNOW GLOBE in the holiday Chest??? I got two of them.. Just wondering because the person who wrote the items for the Holiday Master Box did not mention the snow globe.

Such a thing does not exist. And unless TL makes a box that only includes avatar items, it will never exist.

Most (but not all) of the surprise boxes have avatar items, but there is no guarantee you'll get one on your first try. Not all of the avatar items are that great either. To me, the best avatar items that you have decent odds of winning are the Strapless Red Gown (3rd place) from the Paris Chest, the Beach Caftan (3rd place) from the Summer Chest, and the Sweet Babydoll nightie (4th place) from the Secret Bag.

Check through the pictures at the start of this thread and decide which avatar items you like best but also what the odds are. The odds are very much against winning a 2nd or 1st place item on your first try.

Thanks maguar! :) I was wondering where that thread went. Now I'm not sure... last year's surprise box was called the Christmas Box, but the one that just appeared is called the Holiday Gift box... so maybe they're not the same?? Hmmm...

I'm hoping it has totally different items since I wasn't impressed with last year's Christmas Box.

But what I wanted to confirm.. can you get the same item several times from one box if you purchase it more than once?
You can get duplicate items out of the same box.
Except, you will not get duplicates of clothes and things for your avatar in your closet.

Because of the update and the update notifications that pop up when you load the game, I accidentally hit one of the boxes (Don't have any idea as to which one) and wasted hard earned gems I was saving to use later. And what did I get out of it you might ask? Apparently I got sunglasses for my closet? Didn't even see them. I want my gems back. I'm so sick of this happening I'm ready to quit. Ugh. But no they don't refund your gems. What a waste this was.

Is there a best way to open boxes? Because I have very bad luck.

Bought 19 Heart and 18 Eclectic, and only got 3rd and 4th prizes except the eclectic hat for avatar. What I really wanted were the 2nd prize displays in those boxes.
When I visit other shops and ask around, most people got displays within the first 7-10 tries.
Why is my statistic so bad? With 38 bought boxes and 10% chances of getting 2nd prize, I should have 3-4 2nd prizes, but only got 1.
Please let me know if there are any tricks? I see many shops with 1st prize and more than one 2nd prize. How many boxes do people normally buy to get those prizes?

Is it best to open them one after the other, or take a minutes break, do it some days after the release date or...?

No tricks to get better items :( You either get lucky or you don't - or in this case you either get frustrated or you don't :D And in the worst case when you're trying to get a certain item, you'll get every other item from the box but not the one you want. I'd **** for the pucker up display - but no luck with it. I even got the 1% item from that box and I don't really even want it :(

Hey Maguar or Kooky, i noticed that some info on the eclectic box is incomplete and probably due to the confusion between the 2nd and 3rd place prizes. but i believe this is what FS intended to be designated as 2nd and 3rd place:

Uncommon - 3rd prize, 35%

There's a display issue on Android which switches the ranking of 2nd and 3rd prizes. The rarity of the items is not affected, only what is displayed when you open the box. If you receive a 2nd prize item, it is actually a 3rd prize item, and vice versa. Sorry for the confusion!

I have a lot of stuffs now and I didn't get what I was looking for.

I believe that most box items don't deserve 24 gems. I want to open a French box because I love the Eiffel dressing room, but I'm afraid I'll end up with the jet'aim sign...I don't think that the other 4th place items deserve 24 gems... I opened accidentally a fairytale box and got the frog prince, I wouldn't give not even 500 coins on this... the next time I opened a box -by accident again -I was more lucky though and got the Tulip dresses display.

there are some boxes with terrible 4th place items, frog prince is definately one of them, but i would also say all the chairs, dividers and stuff like that are not worth 24 gems. but oh well, its a risk we are taking when we decide to open them. as well as duplicates. but what i personally really hate about this boxes are avatar items, i dont like almost any of them. if they put really nice dresses it would be ok but now those items are really useless like some cat or mouse ears, bouquet, hat or fan :( it would be so nice if they put them separately in one or two boxes.

I think we had one around christmas, so it was like 7 months ago. But not so long time ago they also opened one box, think it was for easter and all items and displays inside were available to buy, not for 24 gems but still it was better, no gambling :) so hopefully they will do something like that again or we will have to wait 5-6 months if sales are only once per year.

It depends, there are some boxes where you get a nice display as 1st or 2nd prize, but there are also boxes where you dont get a display at all. You can check all the boxes on the first page of this thread. Like that you can see also 3rd and 4th place prizes and see if you like any of them cause there are way more chances you will get those.

The Magic Box has the most avatar items but the style of clothes and displays you like depends on you. Like stated above, you may also want to check if you like most of the 3rd and 4th place prizes.

Its a gamble, so you can end up with something useless for what you wouldnt pay even 5 gems, but also its possible to get really great item like display. Depends how many times you try and how lucky you are. So its always better to choose the box in which you like also 3rd and 4th places :)

Its a gamble, so you can end up with something useless for what you wouldnt pay even 5 gems, but also its possible to get really great item like display. Depends how many times you try and how lucky you are. So its always better to choose the box in which you like also 3rd and 4th places :)

Wow,then I won't do that again. I thought I would get the entire box including clothing. It was not clear prior to me purchasing.

I came here to see what things in the luau box & there's no photos- I see people have asked about it- I don't pretend to know how much works goes into updating all these threads- if it's something that's coming soon, in progress I'd love to know its on the way- if it's not on the to do list, love to know that as well so I don't keep coming & looking for them. Now that it's Halloween season again, they should bring back the Halloween boxes. At least bring back last year's, that one had nicer prizes in it. I SOOO wanted the graveyard girls in skeleton outfits display, but never won it last year. :(

She already bought more than twenty boxes and never she could get it. Now she has the same items. The question is....there is a limit to try some box to get the first prize? I know that boxes are lucky but she was asking to me if she will get one day this display and I couldn't answer. So, I don't know if you guys have this answer but it's possible, for example, one person buy 40 boxes and they don't get the first prize? I hope someone can help with her question. I saw the most adorable display while visiting a shop ... it was an autumn fireplace setting with a woman sitting by the fire sipping a warm drink ... if my memory serves correctly. Do any of you happen to know what that display is actually called and whether or not it will ever be made available again? I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Fireplace Display. Can't remember how much it cost, 40 gems? It was released last year as a LTO. Not sure if they will re-release it again this year. But looking at what they did on rs, I'm guessing there's a high chances that it may return again.

Where is the groom? and the guests? It seems so lonely and chilly, but besides that, it is a beautiful display, love the snowy benches, they should've made the counters look like that with the shimmery stuff on top and I like it when they use real game catalogues for game displays.

The luau box is my favorite along with thd victorian chest. Opened it a couple of times got both the lei display n the grass skirt. Weird tho the skirt was 3rd place n lei display 2nd

I have gotten the rose sofa, standing roses and rose chair. Nice lower prizes so far. When I get another 30% off gem sale I plan to open it a few more times.

I think that the displays from this box have nothing to do with "picnic rose" though, as they have no roses in them at all. Only rose related items are the smallers items.

Box items are completely random and it is possible to have multiples of the same item, even in a row.

Quick clarification on duplicate box items.

Yes you have chance of getting duplicates, EXCEPT for the closet items. Once you get a box closet item, you will not be able to get that same item again.:)

I found some pics in the 5-6-14 update thread, but some of the pics are not showing up, so I am trying to decide if I want to take a gamble or save my gems....

I was looking for the same thing. I want the jacuzzi for my Gym themed store, but I don't want to keep spending gems on a random box. None of the other items in this box would be useful. I tried twice and just got a mannequin and a buoy (which is floating around in my lap pool :( )

Earned gems or purchased gems will be the same. 1st and 2nd place items are more rare and harder to get.

They need an option that if you select this magic box by error, you still have that option to PLACE it. They don't have this, and then you get stuck with them taking your gems when you did not even want it. So many people get tipped off this way. I selected the X and they game me an item and took 24 gems... this has happened twice now...lol No more real money purchases from me until this bug is fixed. I say it is a bug, because you don't have the option to place or not.

The makeup counter is a feature only found in IOS devices. Design tab, last tab on the right and costs 36 gems (?, correct me if I'm wrong). As for the catalogs/outfits, they may be seasonal outfits from the past. Why are they a lower level? They're probably old players that don't play anymore.

I have a couple of active neighbors that are lvl 50 or 60ish and have things like Mall Santa and other things from 2012. My guess is they go inactive for periods, then come back and play. But these old, mid level, currently active players do exist.

Ok so I'm really confused. I was reading your lists of things inside the boxes for each place. I was under the impression that you would get everything listed under that particular place so I bought a box but only got 1 thing?? This is the first time I have ever even considered buying a box because I thought that you would get everything listed. If that is not the case then you should really make that clear because I would not have wasted my gems to just get one thing that is way too much of a gamble. Can someone clarify this for me please. Thanks

When you purchase the box for 24 gems you will only receive one item. It will be random. You can receive duplicates( except for closet items).
The common ones will come out more than the rare items.
It is pretty much a "gamble" box.

Oh I did not know that your lists are kind of misleading for someone that doesn't really know anything about them and have come here to learn about them. If I would have known I would only get one random thing I would have definitely saved my gems. Thanks for your response

I bought the Radiant Orchid box two times in a row. Both times I got the 4th place Lavender chair. I like them and two of them looks pretty cute but it's rather annoying to get the same thing twice in a row.

I was never very interested in buying crates before. But after looking at these photos and the item lists WOW!! I'm going to start collecting. I've been playing about 2 years my shoppe is one step away from max size. I'm always looking forward to the weekly update to see what's new for decorating and fashion. I'm hooked now lol can't wait to get my first crate and start collections. 😀😱

Are you talking about the make-up counter or lipstick box (not sure if that's the right name)?
