Breeding success Original Dragon Story Vs New Dawn version?

I have been having zero luck in breeding in the New Dawn version of DS. Has anyone went back to breeding in the original version and with what success?

Ok so I tried relentlessly breeding Witch and pumpkin in New Dawn version never got them. Then bred diamond and "indigo" Mindvolt twice got 2 Mists. Since New Dawn release I only got 1 rare dragon - Laserlight.

This morning I bred Diamond and Mindvolt again in old DS version and BAM, Clown Dragon which I never got yet after many attempts in New Dawn. Going to keep breeding in old version, maybe this clown was just luck but...

I honestly don't think the version makes a difference... but I could be wrong. Probably just coincidence/luck. I think breeding is based on luck anyway but other people have "theories".
