Why can't I like pets?

Hi when I visit some community members,whether members or not,sometimes it won't let me like the pets,it will only tell me the name of the breed. Any idea why it does this. It always has on the top of the screen that I should be able to do this.

If you aren't able to play with the pet it means that someone has already played and the owner of that pet shop has not collected from the pet yet.
Only once that player collects from the pet will you be able to play with the pet again.

how can you tell if your or your neighbors pet has been played with?

For your pets - you can know only when you collect, you will get a paw along with the coin (in the first collection).

For others pets - you will know because you won't be able to play with the pet when you click on it.
