Can these only be obtained from mining or bashing rocks? I haven't managed to get any for the last couple of days by either method, and it is holding up doing things now :(

In addition to those you can ask your friends to gift them to you. You can also go on adventures which sometimes give jewels as rewards.

They removed the option to craft them in the magic forge.

I noticed they'd removed it when I had a read through your guide this morning. I will have to do some more adventuring :)

and it really hurts when you finally DO get enough jewels to craft a royal beam, then go and craft a royal block by mistake *sobs*

They need to have an "ask your friends" option like they did with the glimmer dust for Ivy's Hut except for jewels obviously. Building royal blocks/beams takes forever.
