Discovery Chest ribbons???

When you click on the "i" (info) on the Discovery Chest icon, it lists different colored 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th ribbons. I understand what they mean, but what good are they to those that purchase the chest? Does or when does this ribbon appear? Does it appear before or after you buy the chest?

Ive wondered abt these ribbons too! Is it saying we'll get something that qualifies as one of the ribbons?? Ive bought a few chests bt after getting 3 patio sets in a row I was so disappointed I havent bought anymore lately lol Oh & in response to the thread starter I never saw a ribbon b4 or after buying a chest .. Only saw the pic of the 4 ribbons you r asking abt :-) Maybe someone can can give us both some more info abt the chests & the ribbons ;-) Thanks!!
