Tracking your Dragons

Hi there

I'm pretty new at Dragon Story and with all the different dragons I just needed a a way to track them and see how I can breed them for new ones.

For that reason I made a little website: http://dragon.sjau.ch

JavaScript is required to set cookies of your dragons (so that at next visit they're already enabled).

When you hover a dragon it shows you what two dragons you could use to breed that one. All the breeding info I got from here: http://dragon-story.wikia.com/wiki/Breeding_Calculator however I don't know how accurate that is.

I still need to do some work on layout (I'm no good at that at all....) and also give feedback what other dragons are needed if you have no way to breed one yet.

So, fixed wrongly labelled columns and added coins/gold to the price. Also added a few small explanations - especially regarding the AJAX tooltip.

I checked all my dragons, but it still didn't work, still said no breeding possibilities for everything.

Well, you need to allow JavaScript to run since it sets cookies and the hover checks your cookies.

Ok, removed the hover but instead it's a modal box now when you click on the according dragon links. Still need to fix positioning.

So, just removed the costs and incubation columns from the main view and added it to the link hover / modal box. That will all plenty of space to add other things like a link for breeding stats of a given dragon - which I still have to code.

So, I added now breeding stats capabilities.

Feel free to post your breeding results. It works like this:

1.) Select according tab
2.) In the dragon text field you have auto completion of the names, use the ones offered
3.) Supply your email address for verification
4.) Press submit
5.) Click on the link in your email

I haven't integrated the stats yet in the overviews, will do so probably tomorrow.

Also cookie for the supplied email isn't working yet... will fix that also later so you don't have to enter it all the time.

Tried using this 2 days ago and was confused, trying it now, very useful.

Tried running it on IE, made everything, even in other browsers, incredibly slow for a couple minutes. Then everything was normal.

how exactly does the list that opens up when I click on a dragon work? I assumed those were combinations, but on one side was Air Dragon and on the other was Infinity for Fairy, which obviously can't happen. The only possibility there would be Air or Gold.

I just realized that I need to have javascript on. the breeding calculator you linked in the first post works and I assume that uses javascript, why doesn't this work? It just displays a list of all dragons unless it's a basic dragon that isn't magic/diamond/infinity.

And it only shows you possibilities for the dragons you already have (at the moment)

does it display any dragon usable or only dragons you already have? I clicked Athletic, a dragon I have, and it displayed Laserlight. Though it doesn't display every dragon, so that's good.

well, when there's a working combo for you, it will show all the combos you can do.... if you have no working combo for a dragon, it'll show you the ones that are needed...

I checked all the dragons I have, and it still showed dragons I didn't have when I clicked a dragon I had, but at least not every dragon was displayed.

Just found that on the breeding results. If possible, make a filter for only legit combos? Forestfire + Poison has no Yellow. Only Fire/Forest and Forest/Magic.

Well, I'll have to add the colours to the dragons yet and setup according rules :) working on it :)

So, I setup now the rules of the possible breeding parents. Next thing is to setup the rules for the breeding stats submitter. I think I could do that tonight.

Also, albeit a very far-fetched idea, maybe allow you to put in 2 dragons and it will show %'s based on breeding submissions? There isn't much you can't do with Java, but idk.

well, first you'd need a lot of results before you can put meaning full stats online.... have to think about it... didn't the the breeding submission check yet.... was too tired last night.

Thx - also for the feedback. To my knowledge neither the names of the dragons, nor their level nor there placement play a role with the outcome. At least that's what Sylvandyr says (he's on of the admins that run the DS wikia page). Still gotta maintain formatting of the feeback somehow :)

Just a little backup:

Finally I do also check the submitted breeding dragons whether they can produce the offspring.

Also I did now add more stats to the stats link. For the Poison Dragon stats you have an entry like now like this:

"Honeybee Dragon & Poison Dragon 1 (of 5) ~20%".

This means that the combo Honeybee and Poison was 5x used in total. Out of those 5 times, 1 time the offspring was another Poison dragon. Current success with this combo to get another Poison Dragon is hence 20%.

Found a glitch, displays any 3 color combo as a Diamond combo, ie Firestorm + Water, Eagle + Parakeet, Eagle + Mist, Fruitful + Genie, Pumpkin + Titan, Luck + Wizard, etc

"Added Parent Combo Stats - it'll show you what offspring a given parent combo has prodcued this far"

You have a new tab entry "Parents Stats" and if you click on it, you'll get a list of the submitted parent combos in the list and the amount how often they have been used this far. If you then click on the total number, the popup comes which shows you what offspring and how often it was breeded with that parent combo.


Now everybody just has to submit according breeding results and we should get nice stats.

Once you hit a certain amount of validated submissions for breedings you will then see a dropdown inwhich you can submit the same combo multiple times.

E.g. if you submit Air + Fire = Forrestfire 27x

then it will add that 27 times to the database.

Sorry, big server issues.

One of the 3TB Raid1 drives failed, so I had it replaced. Unfortunately the second drive in the Raid1 is also faulty. Trying to recover all data which is slow (but still faster than me uploading all backed up data again).

Will let you know once it's up again.

Wow, that took longer than expected. After it found some bad blocks ddrescue did slow down from 120MB/s to like 25MB/s and I had to do the whole thing twice. Now the original faulty and replaced harddisk runs fine, And the previously bad block one is being synced again into the raid array.

So everything should be fine again :)

Added a "Matches" section. Basically you can provide 1 or 2 dragons and/or breeding times and it'll show you all the possible offspring for that.

everytime i put my breeding results in it asks for email verification but i have never been sent a link. i have already tried re-entering my email a couple of times
