where can I find sheeting & wood that is needed for building a room? I cannot find any in the gift section of my neighbour who is wanting some.

They have to send you a request and you have to accept it. There is no way to send it to them as a gift.

Not every item can be sent as a gift. Some items are specifically request only. If someone sends you a request, and you hit "accept" then they get the item. There is no need to search for it as a gift.

If someone sends you the request and you accept it, the item will go to their game.

You will need to request the parts from your neighbors. Buy the expansion, then click on it and you will get a screen where you can ask your neighbors for the parts.
