I always respond to map requests. If you send me gold I will send back unless I've already sent out my 3 for the day. Won't send gold unless you send first (I have too many neighbors to play favorites). Because I have a lot of neighbors, I don't usually go through and visit their islands to play with their dragons because it takes up a lot of my time and I've got other stuff to do, but occasionally I will do it. I have about 120 some neighbors yet it takes me almost a week to actually get the 60 maps i need to expand that's pretty sad right? You are aware you can only receive 20 a day? So it takes three days minimum - plus you can't ask while an expansion is in progress. It drives me nuts too. I spent ages trying to work out a sequence of steps to minimise the delays, but it is what it is, it seems.

Do you get 20 a day from your neighbours currently?

I've never got maps for more than two days in a row, apart from once and even then I'm not sure if it was actually day 3 or not. Expansion takes 46 hours.

You may have guessed, I don't like the maps system much! Yes, I opened the other location as well. I'd rather mine for runestones as in Fantasy Forest Story, except that game doesn't hold my interest at all.

Oh well, it is what it is. I've managed to get myself in the position where I have a few open spots now, so I am not so anxious anymore. LOL

And yeah it's really sad i need to delete people who ask for maps but never return because i always send them out just never get em back practically... I'm lvl 100 something i believe lol but regardless i know i can't ask during expanding i use the island dragon during that time And once done i send out request then use magic for food so i can lvl up my new golds... I need neighbors because i recieve such a sad amount it takes me up to 7 to 8 days to get maps to expand which that jus for 2 days... Almost ten days for one plot... Not cool ..
