Gems...Where did they go?!

I had been saving my gems for a while. I had 20 or so & the other day I look up & All are GONE but 1! Where did they go? Is this a glitch, cause I sure didn't spend them or use them. So disappointed...
Using newest iPad HD latest VERSION 6.0.0
All updated current.
