New Player has a question

Hi, I just started playing bubble mania and I am only at deep blue cave 16 ( guess it's level 1) and earn coins. but, I don't find anything to buy with coins. There is no help section on this game that I can find.
So what's with the coins? will there be stuff later to buy?

Just thought of another question---did it always take 30 minutes to get energy. This seems way to long. I play all my energy and really get into the game the wham--gotta stop cause no more energy. Is there a way to speed up energy other then with gems. and if i use gems, how much energy do i get?
