I've been playing bakery story for almost a year now, and I never seemed to be able to get all the collectibles. Still needed to get the chef's jacket, the knife, etc. to complete.. Then when I bought gems for the first time, I suddenly got two of those rare collectibles within a few hours!! Is this a coincidence..? Or another way to motivate people to buy gems? Does anyone else have this experience?

It's just luck. Getting rare items is just random luck. I don't think getting collectibles and redeeming them for an ultra lame prize is going to motivate anyone to buy gems.
